The first one (oldest soul) in Industrial Complex village was Comrade Jung (Thomas's friend). He arrived at the same time with Thomas, so since Japanese colonial era. He was used to be the head. Remember Captain Kang always told about his leadership and advices. So, he was able to leave in S1 ending timeline. Then, Captain Kang was appointed as new head.

I feel the same. In S1, they couldn't communicate and share information properly because of lack of trust. But they built a trustworthy bond in S1. Thanks to it, in S2 they could work together and solve the problems smoothly. I love to see it.
