I think time travel is allowed because they made Chu Ying (Sai) of Hikaru no Go who was a ghost(which is not allowed) in the manga into some sort of time traveller XD.... I think religous things are not allowed, im not sure if reincarnation is something religious...

and for Yuzhi case, there is still a chance for survival, so he is holding on it.
Its just like the story of "Father Sacrifice His Son for a Train Full of Passengers" The difference is, there is still a chance for YuZhi to survive.
