everyone is correct about characters on a series and that they bring different things to the table yes she does give more to the concept of a hearing impaired character so that he is not alone but I have seen many BL series with females that act like her meek and mild with their fake innocent act complete with using the doe eyes and the whole speaking like they have a sore throat or squeaking like a mouse to help their cause when they were done and left the group dinner and they were talking about the type of person Kohei might like and he was glowing and smiling when talking about Taichi and that he didn't want someone else to discover just what a phenomenal person Taichi was because it makes him feel uneasy she asked that question just to test his reaction and if he would be honest with her but he shut down quickly then she had to play the whole i'm confused about the meaning behind your words when just how much what he said bothered her was clearly written all over her face she was seething and trying so hard not to expose herself and let him know her true feelings about Taichi and just how he doesn't suit Kohei because they are not on the same level..

I think we got off on the wrong foot and that there is a big misunderstanding I have no problem with Kohei becoming a social butterfly and having tons of friends You can be in a relationship and still have tons of friends and that is a very good thing Kohei spent way too much time being all alone so now he needs this and it’s so good and healthy for him And yes having friends who have something in common with you makes it so much easier to be friends because you both understand what it’s like to have the whole world treat you differently Yes she adds another layer to the story because it gives him someone else who is like him to show just how difficult they both have it and just how they get treated differently so yes she does bring a different dynamic to the story My problem with her is like you said she is only Kohei’s friend so why does she think she is entitled to talk to and treat Taichi that way? Who is she to judge him and to dictate to him that he should not bother with Kohei since it’s clear to her that he is only using Kohei for his benefit and that he can’t do anything to benefit Kohei’s life.. who is she to say that he can’t help Kohei or bring anything special into his life? Yes I do agree that something has to give and they do need to own up to their feelings and be open about them Kohei has done that by kissing Taichi but Taichi hasn’t done that so yeah if Taichi knows he might lose Kohei then yeah it would motivate him to face his fear head on and confess to Kohei finally..
