personally, though i enjoyed the show as a whole, i'm really disappointed that day got his sight back. it felt like the whole arc of the show was about day learning how to function and take care of himself as a blind man, and it felt like the ending undercut all of that.

what you described is rivals to lovers, which is a whole different trope! while i'm not usually the biggest fan of bully romances, they do fit an enemies to lovers trope decently well, especially bc sailom isn't just a victim and gives it back twice fold. also typically you go into a bully romance knowing it's not necessarily going to be a healthy relationship you should aspire to lol

you absolutely don't need to watch midnight motel first! (though it was a great show!) as far as i can tell, there's not real correlation between the two beyond the theme of sort of accidentally getting into trouble with organized crime
