Yeah , the whole drugging part is toxic. THey could have changed it into a bad hook or something. Like they both fuck bois who fuck around with everyone (male and female alike ) but once they got drunk and make out with each other despite being enemies. Now they figure out if they actually hated each other or that obsession was wrongly diagnosed. Like there is a thin line between love and hate. The screen writer should evolve the story instead of just copy paste. You know, pretty much same thing as the book, minus the drugging and sexual assaults . All being said, Imma watch this series till the end (skipping the cringy parts as always) casue it's a guilty pleasure lol.
