hmm... i guess it serves the purpose that both have made mistakes and the viewer can somehow empathize with both. one did something illegal and unethical to save their child, another wants to avenge the death of his child. somehow, they're not that different (which is something that they agree on at some point in the movie)
nice article! i'd also add that, subconsciously, people have a different attitude towards period pieces. when it comes to contemporary, we have a different attitude. we think things a bit more realistically. but period pieces have this 'in illo tempore' trait, meaning that we think of it almost the same way we think of a fairy tale. we don't take it as history, we take it as a fairy tale, thus our perception is all the more prepared for romance and epic fights and all the jazz.
can anybody tell me why this drama is only 7.5 rated? i know many people who think this is one of the best dramas, so it's weird that it's got a mediocre rating (i also generally tend to watch things over 8.0).
