A world primed to think only about race will only think about race and I don't think this will solve REAL racism. As history has shown, cultures evolve over time and influence one another. Stated another way, there is no such thing as cultural appropriation because there is no such thing as an original culture. The entirety of human history was based on cultures mashing together, trading beliefs, ideas, and more.

Just because you associate it with a negative view doesn’t mean everyone does, the show did not have a bad intend (as the actor stated himself). Not everyone has the same view as you, I saw just a style, he looks like every other rapper in America.

For the people who are calling anyone with different opinions racist, uneducated and ignorant, here is some clarification.
Although this hairstyle is commonly associated with black people and, particularly, with the Rastafarian culture, it most likely originated in India, although some would say Egypt. Rastafarianism is more a religion than a culture and the adoption of dreadlocks is probably connected to religious tradition.
That doesn’t alter the fact that blacks appropriated this style from another culture. Some white people also wear their hair in dreadlocks. Apparently, this is a terrible thing, but why? Does it demean black people? Why do black people have more right than white people to wear dreadlocks? After all, they didn’t invent that style, they appropriated it. How can this be racist or oppressive? Why does it have to be weighed down with a negative connotation? Normal people tend to have a positive, optimistic outlook and believe that good things are always possible, but you internet activists have a negative outlook. So you will routinely bully other opinions into silence with appeals to emotion and personal attacks rather than well-formed or well-articulated arguments pertaining the issue.
At this point you are just being bullies and hypocrites attacking everything that doesn't conform to your view of the world.

I never stated that racism does not occur, but you are searching in the wrong place. There is nothing racist about the character you are just fabricating something to serve your viewpoint of the world i.e. that everything is racist.

You are just assuming that he is trying to imitate the stereotype of black people, although nearly every other western show does the same, this stereotype exists and they did not make it up just now and surely did not want to insult or harm anyone, there are a lot of stereotypes in the world, but you chose to see it as negative and not as it is.
Our natural state is not racist. Our natural state is that people are people, and they come in all shapes, colors, and sizes. There are pale white people and tan white people. There are light-skinned black people and dark-skinned black people. The list goes on. To notice race and consider people of a different race to have alternative universal characteristics is racist. It’s also generalization. It’s like assuming all women do this, all white men do that, all Asian people enjoy this, or all tall people are like that.
When we continue to harp on race over and over and over again, we drive home the idea that those people are somehow different than the rest of us. Worse, when we go to lengths to assume that people of one race would have a different experience than people of another race in the same situation is also presumptuously racist.

Just because people don't share the same viewpoint as you does not mean they are racists. Stop insulting and spreading hate.
