can someone explain what XW backstory is? is he bad? or working for the rebels? how is he connected to the Yan family? I initially suspected that he might have been YL cousin but am I wrong? 😂 like why is he so hooked onto the Yan family?

I was wondering why XW was always so suss of JN and I only just realised after watching episode 5 that it’s because he was worried about her spreading the word about how he was 4 years ago in the snow. haha 😂 I thought they made him remember everything of the past. but it’s funny he mentions that he thought she was incarnated.

I know as much that in the modern day, it’s a story that the ‘author’ is writing. I’m aware this isn’t part of the novel and more likely to pass the censorship. But she’s somehow reincarnated or revisiting the story to how she would have wanted it to go right? so what’s the immediate connection because I’m getting confused about the interactions. like why is ML so suss about her and is Ning er someone else or not the empress anymore or is this to say all that in the past hasn’t happened yet? does the ML remember the past too?

Now I’m back tracking and watching the anime and I know the movie is a condensed version but there’s def some minor changes or parts that they don’t include to help piece the puzzle a little better like they did in the anime.

But either way, still can’t get over it 🥹 I hope we get to see him more in similar visuals.
