very true! the reason i think he may have a traumatic past is because as i mentioned it's very typical of kdrama writers to make the leads have a background like that so i wouldn't be surprised if that's the direction these writers r also going for (it's also probably an 'easy' way to flesh out a character's backstory). i've read a few theories abt his past from other fans so i'm really looking forward to how they build up his character (since you are on ep.3 i shouldn't elaborate on the theories i've come across, don't want to spoil accidentally ahaha) You are right; just because someone has a traumatic past it doesn't always make them interesting (some leads do use their traumatic past to justify rude behavior, which i believe can be very realistic as some of us would've come across such people in real life) but it does add more depth to the character and probably makes them more relatable. indeed, as humans we are all flawed in some way or another and that can be attributed to diverse factors. like u said some can grow up loved yet end up being trashy people!

that's what i was thinking too!! He's literally just mind his business and being like everyone else?? I don't think there was anything two-dimensional or off about him but I also understand what some fans are saying abt him not being as outspoken when it comes to defending young woo (i mean he has been trying!! he will get there!) i think that is something we will see soon. I also think he might have some tragic past that's just so typical of kdrama leads lmao we'll see what happens but for now he's definitely one of my favorite MLs in a while. we need more jun hos who are not afraid to show their love and respect towards their romantic interests !!

Example of some dramas with mysogynist male leads??
Oh you’re right abt c-dramas I didn’t watch them at first but I’m currently trying to watch more and I was really shocked to see some tropes and hear some of the dialogue

i don't think him being nice equates to him being perfect since being nice itself can be a double edged sword (i think someone mentioned this in the comments somewhere) im just very bothered by some watchers be so overly critical of him when we've not even seen the guy that much. but of course it's fine to convey our expectations, i have expectations myself. i personally loved run-on, i'm more into heartwarming and light shows i guess. i think by standards i mean general standards expected from men because we live in a patriarchal society where many women are expected to settle for less/ are held to higher standards than men. but I fully agree that we should all accept that everyone has flaws (regardless of sex and gender) . obviously i can't say anything about ur outlook on life or standards since we would have lived vastly different lives hence would have different perspectives :)

i didn't like some older shows bc of the male leads maybe i have to accept that those were a products of their times so they aren't the best written in terms of their behavior towards women

i think what im personally bothered by is how ppl are complaining so much abt him when its only been 6 episodes. i don't expect much character development from anyone, I am sure we'll get something (i'll be the first to complain if we don't djdjd). I also want more character background of the other characters (i think some kdramas rly lack in terms of character bg these days) so i hope they make jun ho a good ML bc he has a lot of potential! I haven't watched eve, but why her has definitely been a let down though i wouldn't say gong chan is entirely terrible ahah definitely could be written better. I also like multidimensional leads because that makes them realistic but I also don't like some ppl implying that junho's character is too unrealistic and boring just bc he's kind/ fits into the nice guy trope; i believe it should be a standard to be more like him rather than viewing him as unrealistic but that's just my view.

After watching poorly written male leads in the past (do yall like misogynistic male leads??? They aren't complex they are just a$$holes btw) , jun ho is such a breath of fresh air. People really complaining too much lmao

if people have watched my liberation notes, there's a scene where one of the female leads says how it's hard to distinguish between feelings of pity, love, and respect.

A lot of ppl saying junho just feels bad for wyw feel kinda ....disrespectful because it's very obvious jun ho likes her a lot and sees her as a woman who just happens to be on the spectrum. yeah he might feel bad for her, it's natural to feel bad when someone has to endure discrimination just because they are different but that does not mean he can't be romantically interested in her. Would people be saying such things if WYW wasn't autistic? she's still just a person. and jun ho likes her. period.

yes, maybe jun ho treats her so kindly because he knows someone who's like WYW or maybe he just likes her because that's just how romance in shows are (and irl; idk why some ppl are making all kinds of weird theories to discredit jun ho's very obvious affection for WYW. wouldn't you be in love with WYW too? i totally would). im just here hoping they get the happy ending they deserve

I can’t believe I started this show fully knowing some of our leads are just gonna die in the end 😭 unless? 😭
