what kind of writing did you expect for a: scheming guy , commander, shameless, bold, "son of a bandit", who grew up on the battlefield? don't forget his coup d'etat, and his entrance in Mu's party. this is more convincing for me, and for his opponents. this is more realistic. we should know that the writer has to push the story to be more legit, they even have to make people die to have an character evolution more legit, they don't care about our feelings, they care about the consistency of the story

why not capturing what the story is telling. he is a man who has a different background compared to normal people. what you call "abusive" is a way for him to scare her, to make her cooper with him. he is about to make a coup d'etat, the FL saw him killing people and so on. in reality he has not the intention to rap her or anything, it's obvious by the way. you will see that he is thoughtful and smart guy in reality. that aside, About Novaland, i didn't finish it yet, but what do you expect from a costumes drama? actually the reality of this period is worst than what is portrayed in all drama (raping, concubines, scheme ... those were dailies at this period) you don't like more realistic drama, may be rom com modern drama suit you more
Why people are frustrated by the ML? why jumping into conclusion so early? you saw more than 20 ep, about him. and still don't know what kind of character he has? you don't know the whole story yet, the hidden story, why throwing stones at him already? he 's a scheming guy, always has a good plan behind his apparent misbehavior, since the beginning. he was the one who helped the FL and took care of her , why not just trust him like Wanqing does?
