Episode 35-37 gu ting ye already built his career and then he started to plan a scheme in order to marry ming lan because the grandmother is not easy to convince since he had a past to consider. Since this is a historical novel, they dont date. Women cant be acquanted with men easily without a companion or group of people sourrounding them if you are still single. Episode 37 is my favorite because gu ting ye is already bound to marry ming lan, when qi heng passed his civil service exam. He was widowed with his first wife which is the princess rong, so he decided to marry ming lan after he pass his exam. But he was too late. Gu ting ye who was recognized by the emperor and he (ting ye) notified the emperor that he will marry a daughter from sheng family. Gu ting ye scheme everything to make ming lan his wife.
