I'm familiar with it too but still horrible. Tearing down someone's self-esteem is a terrible thing to do.
I grew up under similar condition with a parent who speaks to me like this.
I grew up with zero self-esteem, zero confidence and fear of everyone bigger or older than me.
It took years to raise my self confidence to an acceptable level.

Imagine a grown man being spoken to like this. Not everyone can take such nonsense behaviour. At my age now, I won't accept such anymore. Not even from my parents. I'll call them out.
