Now about Porchay

If it’s true Porchay is the innocent one in this whole series, he’s not one dimensional and limited to just being sweet.
Let’s not forget that Chay is not a naive little child shielded from the hardships of life. Sure, his life is not dark like Kim’s life, and he has a great older brother who’s ready to risk his life to protect him. He lost his parents when he was young, and his only point of reference is Porsche. He knows how his uncle can’t be trusted and was confronted to the violence of debts collectors. He knows and acknowledge how they survive thanks to Porsche; how much Porsche sacrifices himself for his happiness. He understands how hard life can be when you’re not rich. That’s why he doesn’t act like a naive spoiled child, he didn’t throw a tantrum when Porsche left him behind. He tries his best to be independent, to continue his routine without his leading light. “The show must go on”, “live life to the fullest”, I believe these are the teachings from Porsche. That’s how he is able to keep smiling, to keep being positive even if he’s sad. Sad from losing his parents, sad from losing his uncle, sad from losing his brother. There is no doubt he terribly misses Porsche because we saw how profound these two loves and support each other. He even keeps close to him everything that reminds him of Porsche because he’s waiting for his role model to come back.
Porsche also covered him with a lot of love and care that’s why he has so much love to share. He is not shy to voice his feelings because he believes people deserve the same treatment he received from his brother.
He’s so full of love, has so much love to give.
I think he liked Kim and adore him the way a fan normally would, but he feels in love with him when they interacted. Kim charmed him, listened to him, understood him when he was the loneliest. It’s no wonder he fell in love quickly.
If it’s Kim who started their relationship, it’s Porchay who took it to the next level without even doing it on purpose.
Chay confessed because he needed to communicate his love. He was ready to not see Kim ever again. The guitar pick was his parting gift. He mustered up all his courage for this moment because he made an oath to himself. In his mind there was no way Kim would like him the same way. He was so shocked when Kim kissed him, he froze. The way he smiled to himself when he realized what it meant was so heartwarming. His happiness reached the sky, almost chocking Kim in the way.
He is so high on cloud nine, to him nothing will break his joy.
He’s miles away to think that the two most important people in his life are deceiving him. He will be disappointed, heartbroken, devastated. Even if Porchay is strong and knows how to deal with his sadness, there’s only so much a 17 year old boy can take. Let’s all be ready to not see our sunshine beaming once it happens. I don’t know if they will make it through it. No matter what will happen, Porchay will be wounded deeper than before….

Here comes the long explanation to why I like them 😅

Let’s start with Kim.

Kim started to use Chay to know more about Porsche, not because he’s the devil in disguise, but because he has a grander propose: to protect his family, his brother and to discover the secrets the major and minor family are hiding. He has to work in the shadows because Kinn already have too many responsibilities and Khun is not in the right head space to do so.
He tries to emancipate from his stuffy family affairs by living somewhere else. It gives him the feeling to be free, but obviously he’s not (how one can really be free from the mafia?)
His second way to take a break is by playing music. We all know how listening to or playing/making music is liberating. Music has the ability to disconnect us from reality, that’s why it’s not surprising a character like Kim is into music (the same goes for Kinn).
Chay is the third way Kim can break free from his family (yes yes). As the same time Porchay is the only one who can both take his breath away and let him take a breath.
Kim needs Chay because of Porsche but also for his own good. He’s the sun and the innocence he needs and lacks. That’s why he gets fascinated by Porchay so fast. That’s also why he tries his best to distance himself from Chay. If he gets too close to the sun, he might burn. His heart will ignite as well as his plans. (Every time they interact, we see how conflicted Kim gets. He can’t stay cold in front of Chay)
Kim wants to distance himself from him because he must concentrate on his secret tasks. He must have felt like he was wasting time with Porchay because he found nothing tangible about Porsche.
He didn’t ghost Chay because he has no interest in him, but because he didn’t want to hurt him. He knows how much Porchay likes him and how much Chay put him on a pedestal. By ghosting him he tried to protect Porchay and his own heart. He doesn’t want to disappoint him even if he knows that’s inevitable.
When Chay found him the first time to sing to him, it was the first time he lost control in front of him. He was definitely annoyed at Porchay at first (Kim doesn’t seem to be the kind to like surprises lol). He tried to shoo him away (and miserably failed lol) and to assert his authority. However, Chay’s sunlight is strong enough to melt his cold barrier. Him who knows his way around words couldn’t say a word clearly. He could only listen to him. His eyes were even shining while looking at Chay, there was so much amazement and adoration in his gaze.
The second time Porchay found him, he lost control again. These two scenes are good parallels because they play out similarly. Kim being annoyed at first, Chay being a chatterbox and the one to make a move, Kim failing to stay cold and finally losing control. This second time felt like an explosion because it was Kim bottled up feelings that suddenly surfaced. He couldn’t take it anymore he had to express his affection and fondness for Chay. His desire for Porchay was too much to hide anymore, but unlike his brother he did it with a lot of warmth and tenderness. Just like Chay is the one giving him warmth in his life he tried to replicate it by kissing him on the cheek.
This shows how Kim is also putting Porchay on a pedestal. Someone so pure and innocent, the light to his shadow that he mustn’t taint with his dark and cruel life.

Let’s start with some short reasons to why I love them

They are the best couple to show BOC’s creativity. BOC had to create a completely new story for them because there’s almost nothing in the novel.
It’s very nice for novel readers because this brings something completely new and fresh, and it keeps us waiting for their story. It’s less predictable than other couples too because of this reason.

They also stand out the most in the series (in my opinion lol). I love KP and VP a whole lot so it’s not against them at all. KC stand out because they are not that involved in the mafia world. As a stand-alone story it would have been a bit cliché “the bad boy Pi with the cute innocent Nong” but in KP their dynamics is like a breath of fresh air. BOC understood it and used their scene to let the viewers step back a little bit from all the drama and tension (even if their own drama is going to start veeery soon).

I just love their dynamics because let’s not be fooled KimChay is not just sunshine and butterflies (even if Chay is the definition of sunshine).
