My biggest takeaway from this show is that the most valuable things in life are having hope and an open mind. Mudan and Jiang Chang Yang suffered greatly and lost many friends along the way. At times, their situation seemed hopeless, but faith and being willing to change/learn different perspectives were what kept them afloat. Although there were some moments that irritated me during this drama, I am grateful for the journey and enjoyed the story. If you are looking for a show about friendship, change, and a dash of romance, this is the show for you. Yang Zi, Li Xian and the rest of the cast did a great job. So fun
The chemistry between the leads is amazing and enjoyable to watch. The plot is engaging as well. I loved learning about each other, the characters' backstories, and why they act the way that they do. I also enjoyed watching them figure out how to get out of difficult situations together. Lastly, I really liked how the majority of the conflicts between the leads did not drag out too long, and they were separated from each other for long. If you are looking for something entertaining to watch, that has very minimal stress and great chemistry between the leads, I highly recommend you check out this drama.Was this review helpful to you?

It was a fun ride
There's so much I could say, but overall, I loved everything about season 1. Here are some highlights:'Acting with one's eyes and subtle movements. ' So many of the actors/actresses in the cast are able to convey complex emotions through simple movements and their eyes. It's very moving and captivating.
Beautiful clothing, hairstyles.
Memorable dialogue.
Heartbreaking reunions. When XY thought she saw her mom again, I cried so hard. That was the hardest I cried throughout the drama. It was everything I thought it was going to be. The emotions were captured so well.
Yang Zi. What can I say, I don't think I have ever watched a drama that she was the lead in that I didn't like.
All in all, 10/10.

The craziest thing I had ever seen at the time
I had the pleasure of watching this as it was airing, and the thrill of it all was insane. The line delivery, the things the characters said and did, many of which were extremely shocking for me at the time, I could not have predicted. This drama did so well that the lead actress won a best actress award for that year, and it also made dramas of this genre gain more popularity. If you haven't watched this yet and are lucky enough to have seen no spoilers, do watch it. Although I will say, the ending is a bit frustrating...it's somewhat of a cliffhanger.Was this review helpful to you?

Amazing acting and chemistry
This was a well-written story and the acting was amazing. The only reason I did not give this a 10/10 is because of the ending. I didn't like how in her 'heaven' she didn't get to meet her friends like she promised. She spent most of her life devoted to the King and had to spend her afterlife that way too which to me was sad especially because she asked him not to 'find her' again. For most people, this won't be an issue or something that made them sad as them being together in the afterlife is an ideal ending but for me it was sad because it signified her never being able to have the freedom she truly desired. Enemies to lovers done right
Today, the last episode aired on YouTube, which means I finally finished this drama. It was good. The only issue I had was that after he found out the truth, the female lead was the one who had to pursue him in their relationship despite everything he put her through. I did not like that. Other than that minor issue, this drama was very enjoyable. The plot twists were fun, and it was great trying to figure out everything.
