The thing is if they didn't had a BL side in the pilot, no one would have minded but they did

If they do remove NorthNight or make them a GL couple, there might be backlash cause to say GeminiFourth is the IT couple or extremely popular rn is an understatement. They probably didn't expect GF to blow up like this but it did. Had they casted 2 randos, no one would have cared
