Regarding choosing a lousy script, I've been reading some discussions online about his career, how he doesn't have family money nor powerful backers to help him get good acting jobs. you just contradicted yourself, saying he's not underrated then saying he can't act. the same illogical thinking is most likely causing you to mistake subtle acting with one-dimensional acting. Didi is a master of nuanced acting which is a much harder, not to mention much more elegant, skill to learn than overacting

he is portraying an awkward CEO really well. i think Bai Lu is doing a terrific job and I love her. but Shi Yan is not doing too bad in character index charts indicating that the main leads are sharing the load

his acting in Miss The Dragon was bashed really hard by netizens, he had to apologize. but i don't think it was entirely his fault. the writing was horrible and the special effects were not in sync with his movements. those couldn't be his faults right? but he took the fall for the whole crew, poor Didi

it's mostly haters who diss him - other actors' fans who are envious of his stunning looks, talent and popularity, especially at such a young age. His acting is definitely not bad. He has 4 acting awards and 2 nominations so far.

Regarding Bailu, I think her character is eccentric. Actually, both Shu Yi and Shi Yan strike me as eccentric. But she is outgoing and not above being outrageous while he is an introvert, tending to be curt and taciturn. So those who think him stiff just don't understand his character. Another thing, he is a CEO. People at that position usually are adept at keeping a tight lid on their emotions.

So far, I think both Dylan and Bailu are acting in-character. Personally, I also don't like the flirty bit but Shu Yi has reasons for pretending to be a flirt and Bailu is acting the part convincingly.

Because of his great looks, Dylan Wang's acting talent tends to be underrated. I've seen allegations on social media that he is getting by on his looks alone. That is how prejudiced the world is against stunningly beautiful faces. He did encounter some acting challenges early on in his career but he had already apologized for a bad performance and has worked like no other to improve his craft.

It's past time people stop judging his talent based on one misstep a couple of years ago. He has moved on from that and so should they. He has proven his talent and has garnered more acting awards and nominations than many actors who have been in Chinese entertainment longer than him.
