GMMTV getting on my last nerves. They spoiled bits of the Sean Gumpa convo that wasn't in ep 8 in the behind the scenes video, and also mistranslated Gun's words. The mistranslation says 'Papii always lets me fall' while the correct translation is 'Please hold me tight Papii, Gun will fall now'.... This isn't even the first time they've messed up with the behind the scenes video.
Okay I am really confused. Can someone explain to me? I thought they were in the building phase? How did they…
Lol ignoring the very passionate comments, I think they've been building all along already and it was just a matter of time of accepting it. There is a change in Sean when he well and truly sees White (Black) sharing and celebrating their achievement together during the pride scene. From then in this one ep I think Sean was basically wanting to get answers and wanting to give in to this urge of figuring out Black and his feelings. That conversation in the room really shows all his insecurities being answered. I think the missing part is what him and Gumpa talked about because Sean's way of treating White completely changed when he met him at the building. I think we're gonna get that reveal soon and it'll put more context to the kiss.
The art of P'Nuchy's storytelling is breathtaking. I loved how they parallelly put two confession scenes between 2 couples in the same ep but handled it so differently. With SeanWhite it was more of Sean finally letting his walls down. Him confessing how he felt like he had no more reason to live and felt so hopeless and White doesn't make it more traumatic but makes him remember where he is today. Switching the whole scene to giving Sean hope. With DanYok it was like a metaphor of baring skin and soul. His confession was riddled with guilt and honestly it felt like therapy, he needed to say it out loud to progress from it and it was perfect that Yok sat and just listened without asking questions. Even when he provides that comfort Yok doesn't ask but lets Dan cry. SeanWhite kiss was another for books, such beautiful direction and beautiful cinematography. That moment when you realise Sean kissed him cuz he saw White as his reason to live, it makes my heart full.
this show is fantastic each episode it just gets better and better and i am so so proud of Off he has improved…
I think I speak for a lot us when I say the fandom is pretty chill about the ships, but it's OffGun who actually seem content w working w eo personally and professionally. MondGun would be great for one time watchers but they won't be marketable enough for the company as a ship atleast not enough to risk 'breaking' OffGun. It's cutthroat in the bl industry currently w new 'ships' and series dropping so I think they see the value of having a united fandom. They're the only ones who don't have individual fandom names and talk about continuing to be OffGun for quite a while.
After episode 7 I finally know why I can't connect with Not Me. I totally agree with the message conveyed but…
I personally like the direct approach, politics can't be an after thought in a series where they want to make a social commentary. I do agree the series has lengthy dialogues but a lot of the lecture like parts are presented in the space of a classroom, or when Gram is being his extra eager self and honestly this is the rare times I've seen students actually studying. A lot of their passion can be chalked out as passion for their majors and how their reality is a direct consequence of corruption/injustice. It's not just about how these topics need to be discussed but that they are already being discussed. 2020/2021 Thai democracy protests were massive and as u well know sometimes protests loose their momentum once they pass the initial stage of scandal. This series is more about keeping the discussions going. Other series can take a subtle approach but if I was a Thai citizen and this series had chosen to tackle such heavy real topics anything subtler than this, it would be considered cowardly.
Terrible terrible take on this. I think you've only seen the bare minimum of it to jump to such huge conclusions.…
So my understanding from your comments on this thread that you think BLs should stick to only exploring the emotional upheavals of gay people and couples and how you think this show is somehow taking bls a step back is wrong? Most of the bls you mentioned have a happy ending or at least an ending where it wasn't because they struggled to fight against legal rights. By the end point of bls, after the couple has gotten together, any problems that arise is mostly generic couple issues or sudden deaths. Which is fine because that is also a reality but pigeonholing content doesn't sit right with me. I know this show is listed as a bl (which it is because there will an obvious bl couple) but the couple staring here have mentioned time and again that this isn't a typical bl and to keep an open mind, maybe because they understand that the audience of bl series is usually used to having romance in the forefront. I think what'll put more perspective is that the topics discussed here resonate not just with queer groups but every Thai citizen in general. A lot of script revisions were made because post the Thai democracy protests 2020-2022, politics has been the main topic in everyone's mind. A lot of older queer people in Thailand avoid thai bl series because they don't see it having the substance that they relate to but are praising this series for having the guts to call out the government and every point of discussion is a living reality to them. See I don't have an issue with people having different tastes, or even saying there are bls they prefer better or that they think it's slow, but you've called this show 'crap' and an embarrassment to the genre which I will contest everytime.
Terrible. Just awful. It is so embarrassing when a BL, on a BL budget, tries to be an action/thriller or SyFy/horror…
Terrible terrible take on this. I think you've only seen the bare minimum of it to jump to such huge conclusions. How does this come of as low budget? Some of the series you've mentioned have the actual low budgets. This isn't a spy thriller by any means . They are not potrayed as an espionage group at all. Your questionable opinions on what BLs 'should' be is extremely dismissive. The show has always been marketed as a socio-political commentary, just because it is from GMMTV and it has a popular bl pairing doesn't mean it HAS to go the route of conventional bls. Most of what they've discussed is so important in today's society. In real life politics is very much a part of being queer. Yes the "stories of young men/boys developing/living in gay relationships, coming-out, homophobia and how to deal with it, prejudice, pain and heartbreak, along with furtive romance-to-passion, acceptance of self, bisexuality, and on and on'' is important but bls never touch on what happens post that. As much as Thai BLs show you the proverbial happy ending it isn't the truth. It's a country where same sex marriages, equal protection rights are still considered unconstitutional. Reality is a lot more harsh where queer people have to fight for basic human rights and that is all politics. The most recent court verdict on it explicitly stated that ''members of the LGBTQ community cannot reproduce, as it is against nature, and they are unlike other animals with unusual behaviours or physical characteristics. The verdict cites LGBTQ as a different "species" that needs to be separated and studied as it is incapable of creating the "delicate bond" of human relationship" I get you not digesting this genre or even this show but to make it seem like it isn't relevant because it doesn't have a gay awakening is massively derisive. I suggest you also go and check the director's filmography because she has the reputation of being one of the directors at the forefront of queer cinema in Thailand.
This series had an interesting concept and story. But as u continue watching u will find this series goes further…
All the questions that you've put forward have actually been answered or are in the process of being answered but you seem to be skipping to wanting to know the end before it even happens. The main grip of the plot is that you literally cannot guess what happens next. 1. Even in the most stressful situations humans can actually have a hundred different things on their mind, the Gram Yok talk is a reprieve. They're trying to divert themselves from the stress. There's a saying that 'even during wartime people were having babies'. And they're still uni boys fgs of course they have romance in their heads. 2. Why are the others not getting clued in to White being an imposter? This has been addressed time and time again by Sean, they think him nearly loosing his life in the fire has brought about his personality change. And they have no clue that he has a twin. WE the audience knows he has a twin so the answer to his personality changes seem obvious to US. If your friend had an attitude change irl would you say 'Omg this isn't him it's his twin'? Or he's a fake? We aren't in the age of cloning and It's not that obvious an answer as you think it is. 3. Do you even understand how student revolutions happen?, them reiterating their idealogy and anger seem whiny to you? You seem to come across as someone who finds 'politics = boring' Every ep they have tackled a different topic. Each topic irl could actually be made into a separate movie, the content of the topics are THAT vast. So it isn't even the 'same boring talk' 5. Idk how you're thinking that the missions they are doing are expensive. Mission impossible level? Have you seen them use any high tech gadget? The only expensive things they seem to have are the bikes and even that has been explained that Gumpa is lending it to the ones who can't afford it. Plus Gumpa's background has hardly been touched. Pretty sure we'll get even more answers. Again I'm repeating none of these missions are that impossible as you make it seem. If enough research has been done then it's definitely capable of being pulled. Even if its a ' skinny college kid' if they have the right amount of training they can knock down people bigger than them. That's why they've shown us them fight training, free running training etc. 6. Sean keeps repeating how important it is because for him the stakes are the highest, he's out there saying he'd literally die trying to make Tawi suffer and you think it's mind numbing? All these are insights into their characters. 7. White is obviously questioning everything because he has no fckin clue. He needs explanations because he still can't see from their POV, because unlike them he has hardly suffered any injustice. He's a diplomat through and through who believes 'talking it out' will resolve things. First is angry no matter what, umm probably because he has had to see his disable mother suffer from prejudices and taunts his entire life??? The only thing I agree with you on is that Not Me is definitely not for you. You don't seem to have the patience nor appreciation for it. It baffles me that you've confessed that you've been fast forwarding and skipping and then complain that things don't fit. Every scene every dialogue has to be understood. It's so true when one twitter user said that 'GMMTV made a BL where the audience actually has to sit and pay attention'.
