Aside from our main CP progress, ep.21 showed that lovely scene between Fu LanSheng and Gao Quimin. Loved his sentiment about marking your happy moments so that you can look at them in difficult times and realize everything is not so sorrowful after all. 🌳
This supposed frivolous character is showing so much wisdom and kindness for all beings, except his greedy business managers. Haha! 🤣

I'm guessing the main point of SQ not being the father is to show the hypocrisy of the supposed "good" human sects. Aside from killing off and enslaving the Spirit clan, Gao Fengxu and Miao Hua did additional heinous things for power.
Nengxi's shifu/master Miao Hua and her sister Ningzhen betrayed her because of their prejudice and selfishness.
GFX married her corpse and cut her up to put the Chaos Pearl inside her to nourish the dimming pearl. Ten months later, they again desecrated her body when CQM was ready to be born. These three, esp.the father, continuously lied to CQM about her mother and set impossibly high standards for her in their mistaken belief that she is the Chaos Pearl while putting up the facade of being respectable leaders and cultivators.
So for me, having GFX as the dad makes a lot of sense in questioning the morality of the characters.
