I thought it was okay. From the insane amount of hype I was expecting to be blown away but so far it's decent. Cinematography is pretty average but the fight scenes are good. I'm liking the interactions between the leads and I also like that he found out early
This series does an excellent job of showing how suffocating her life is with a paranoid mother at home, secrets about her sister that the family elders conceal, and the gossip and bullying she faces outside. I'm glad she's trying to see things from a different perspective and not just parroting what her mother tells her about her sister. I just wish she would be more cautious about who she meets/seeks info from, but her rashness is understandable given her age and desperation
Wei Shao and his grandmother spoil the cousin too much. He lashed out more at Manman than he did at his cousin which is crazy. The grandmother just brushed it off despite it damaging the image of the Lord of Wei, and especially the Lady
Him using the excuse of a headache to break the ice. Him opening the box that carries his past and burden, and laying bare his heart in front of her. Her embracing him, knowing full well the second part of the promise to his brother that was left unsaid. Him asking if she has a courtesy name. Him whispering "Manman" as he lays his head on hers...
Personally, I like that they show him struggling against what his heart wants. Trauma makes him afraid of being betrayed by her like his family was by hers, and guilt makes him ever more hesitant. Unfortunately for him, as his cousin said, he's already fallen for her
Dude Xiao Qiao isn't even being subtle at this point lol. I hope it doesn't take forever for the ML to realize her feelings are genuine. We also gotta thank the villains for helping their relationship progress
Such an interesting dynamic between the leads. He schemes against her, she schemes against him but they can't help slowly being drawn to each other. And it's those hidden plans that set them back whenever it seems like they've made progress
