Yes!! This is how I felt about YH's so-called love. It was selfish, dangerous, and toxic. That said, you have…
LAR was equally toxic, just the other way around. That dude just endlessly suffered the entire time. If the mark of a good ML character is how much you can suffer (even endure being abused by the woman of your desire in multiple lifetimes), I'm not sure that's a good measuring stick to use as a basis of comparison.
Why is there an LGBTQ+ tag for this show? I'm just wondering as China is very strict about gay representation…
Nah not ...really. One of the characters is a mermaid/man that has the option to switch genders after a period of time (like 300 years or something) if they wish. She started as a male and then became a female. She was in love with her good friend which made things awkward for him.
The most annoying thing about this show is how everyone seems to ignore/not realize the resemblance between Hyunwoo…
They really should have gone the Quantum Leap route. Just one scene or two with him looking in the mirror and seeing a different person would have made it make more sense easily.
Zhang Xin Cheng getting a main role in this is really interesting. He's a talented actor and has experience with martial arts oriented roles such as him being a stand out in Young Blood. Considering he's got a main role in Bright Future along side of Hu Ge (and is another Kong Sheng project) this wouldn't be too much of a surprise.
Leo Wu as another ML is actually surprising to me because somehow I doubt it would be a continuation of Fei Liu's story after the events of NiF 1. If that's not the case and he's playing a different character entirely it would feel a little weird to me since NiF is engraved in my soul so it would be hard to see actors from it as different characters.
At first glance this appears to be a much deeper LOTCH remake that also includes more emphasis on the background arcs for some of the other major characters.
Zhou Yi Wei as Huang Yao Shi, Gao Wei Guang as Ouyang Feng, and Peter Ho as Hong Qi are all super interesting casting choices.
Please spoil me without details if Wang chan ever falls in love with Jin Shu and if he betrays or sacrifices her…
Oh that definitely happens. Every relationship is twisted and that one is no exception. I won't spoil it but she definitely has some messed up stuff happen to her.
To people saying the ML is naïve, well of course he is. He grew up on a deserted island after all. Then he studied medicine in a remote place until he he was a teenager, then he wandered around a few years more until he was an adult. He had very little interaction with people and practically no street smarts.
Also he was inherently "good" and good characters always tend to be naïve.

I'm all about it.
