TBH, if not for Zhao Jinmei, I would definitely give it a -ve rating if I could. The drama would've been fine if I hadn't read the novel. I read the novel before the drama, and I found the novel to be whitewashing SML too much, but the drama took it to another level. It's purely Zhao Jinmei for me. Her micro-expressions were amazing. It's as if I were reading the novel for the first time.

They changed too much from the novel but the only part they didn't change is her mother is one of the top 5 cultivators in the world. In the novel, her father is the most powerful Buddhist monk, and her mother is one of the top 5 cultivators. In my opinion, novel is way better and the comedic interactions between Mu Zanting, Yan Ya and Nan Yan are top notch.

I was never invested in a drama this much and it led to this. Every day I was waiting for the episodes and re-reading the novel when there is nothing to do. At first, I thought the drama was better in the starting episodes mainly because of FL's acting but the last 10 episodes are a shit fest. I'm never ever going to invest myself in a drama before it completely airs. But still Zhao Jin Mai rocked!!!

Yeah, if it's not for Zhao Jin Mai's acting, LR would have a lot more hate than now. But it is also because of her acting, in which she convincingly acts her dialogues, her actions don't make sense anymore. If they had purely gone the novel route, then at least her actions are understandable if not justifiable.

wow!!! another drop...they changed it again and I dropped my rating from 9 to 7. LR not wanting to fully support LC is acceptable but joining hands with SRQ is just nuts. I seriously don't want to continue anymore but even if I do I will just ff to watch their child.

That's not all. SRH killed QZZ and her unborn child to help his son, LX, ascend the throne. tbh, I couldn't blame LC or SQY for any of their past deeds, but I blame the entire Su clan for their hypocrisy. We were shown that Su clan is a good clan that does good but all of their actions in the past whether it is sending SRH to have affair with SQY or SRH killing QZZ or SRQ killing LR just shows that they are a bunch of hypocrites. I wish SQY will be paired with LFB. She deserves much better than SRH.

EP 30 is such a disappointment. I read the novel when only 5 EPS have aired and been waiting for LR slapping SRQ. They kept the unnecessary scenes but changed the important ones. I think they want to whitewash SRQ as much as possible and give the relationship between LR and SRQ the chance when LR said clearly that she didn't have romantic feelings for SRQ. Such a waste!!!

SRQ started loving LR at the age of 12 when he entered the palace with his grandfather. How he returned is something the novel didn't explain so it's kind of a plot hole

All of them have their hands in killing her except ML. LC, SRQ, SY all have their role in it.

I think its because she never believed that ML would hurt her but she believed that if it's 2nd ML he would hurt her. She didn't have that much expectation from SML.

In the novel, she did cheat but it's not like where she is in a complete marriage. They are partners and political enemies. They toned it down in the drama as she said like she didn't have feelings for SML and I guess she didn't cheat.

Yes, Ji Sung carried the show, but I just can't help shifting my entire focus on Kim Min Jung whenever she is on screen. She literally stole the show for me. Sun Ah is the kinda villainess that I would never get tired of, if it is acted like in this series. Such an amazing performance by Kim Min Jung.

Totally agree with you on that. She felt more like the main character compared to Male lead to me. Only other modern cdrama where I had felt like that is forever love. Been waiting for a drama that could stand with it and L&P truly is awesome on that part.

That's what Ja-yoon told, but I have another theory. The starting scene with little girl killing cows and then dog, called by her mother. I think this is Ja-yoon since her father said that lot of cows and dogs died when she was a child in part 1
