Can someone explain what the misunderstanding is between the main leads?

I really like this webtoon, but I think they made a bad choice with the main characters. They weren’t grown up, and honestly, the story doesn’t fit them. They could have picked better characters.

Trust me, you’re the one who needs help. My reaction to their relationship is totally normal ,any normal person would reject a relationship like the main characters

The show is amazing but really sad. The FL is so unfortunate, her life got completely ruined. The ML has been breaking my heart since the very first episode. I hope the kids who bullied her faced some consequences before they died, because they don’t deserve to die without suffering. Can’t wait for part two
