I don't know what others think, I was really in love with this drama. Didn't enjoy the starting eps much but then it gets better, it was lighthearted and enjoyable, did give what it was supposed to give, entertainment.
The hype for this drama was so high that I decided to give it a try but then I just couldn't like it so I dropped it. Then I was seeing it all over twitter again so I decided to give it a go again, I skipped ep 3 to 6 and went straight to ep 7 and that's when I got hooked into it. So glad that I didn't drop it totally bcoz I enjoyed every single ep after that.
It started out amazing like it's the best drama ever but then the director failed to keep the pace. Normally dramas get better later but it was opposite in this case. Still a good drama but when you give such an amazing start, you can't expect people to not get disappointed to not see that same pace throughout the drama.
It was fun, a well made drama. Towards the end, I side eyed some of the things but those were minor and I think I'm nitpicking here. Would recommend it to anyone interested in a good lighthearted drama.
I really liked it when I started it then near ep 10-11, I skipped some eps and went straight to the last few eps, i think it was bcoz I didn't want to see any struggling/sad parts. I don't think I'm the right person to recommend or not recommend this to anyone.
I kinda agree with people calling it overrated bcoz there were much better dramas out there but it wasn't a bad drama at all for me. I don't know about others but I enjoyed it enough to give a positive review. It may not be the best drama ever but it was good.
I didn't know that I would ever like a Korean historical drama this much. I can even put it on par with Nirvana in Fire bcoz it was that good to me. The plot, acting, ending, everything was perfect. I even made my mom watch this and she also loved it, I only make her watch the best dramas. Do give it a try people, you won't be disappointed, I can guarantee that, I swear.
I still wonder how I finished this drama that time, bcoz now I can't even watch a little bit of it without cringing badly. I don't understand why it's still getting recommended to the newbies as an introduction to k-dramas. It's not a good drama.
Great drama, I really enjoyed it, loved most of the characters. Leads' chemistry was great and I loved that they were always there to support each other. Some find it slow paced but it wasn't an issue to me, I didn't skip any eps of it as far as I remember at least not after they grew up which was at ep 3/4. I finish a C-drama fully only when it's good bcoz I've dropped tons, so will highly recommend it to anyone interested, Ming Lan's character was well written, glad to see a strong female lead who wasn't naive and knew what to do and how to handle situations most if not all the times well.
Honestly in this drama, Yuwen Yue didn't get proper role, all of my attention went to Shawn Dou and I loved him except in the last few eps where he went totally out of line, but his character made me enjoy the drama.
It was far from perfect, lots of changes could have been done, some characters were killed too fast and I was like, "that's it?" when they could have used the starting 12-15 eps better bcoz they were kinda draggy and same old.
What happened to Yan Xun and his family around ep 21-26 was brutal and that's why he got my support, I know people thinks that Yuwen Yue couldn't have done more but I disagree, he did nothing, he could have directly told Yan Xun through any way, hoping in his heart that Yan Xun doesn't get up so that he won't be attacked more was not any help. I never rooted for Yuwen Yue for that, I liked him but he wasn't my favorite character.
Also, I don't get why people blamed Yan Xun for Yuan Chun's rape, he asked his men to send her back with her brother safely, they didn't follow his orders and I felt bad for what happened to her but I don't put its blame on Yan Xun.
Overall this drama had its issues but I still liked it except the ending, I hope Yuwen Yue doesn't die and hoping the second season will be better than the first whenever it comes.
I watched it with low expectations bcoz I didn't want to compare it with Nirvana in Fire but I ended up loving it too. Pingjing was great and so was his brother, the priest did a really great job as well, I really enjoyed his acting. I wasn't a big fan of the female lead, her character was fine, I don't know if it was her acting or what that it took me a while to root for their relationship, I don't even know if I rooted for them, I didn't hate her though, like I said she was fine. Overall a good drama.
I have yet to find a drama as perfect as this one, each and every character be it good or bad, they played their characters so beautifully that you can't even hate anyone. It took me months to get over it and I don't think any drama can replace its greatness for me, my first historical drama and nothing can top it in my list, I recommend this to everyone all the time.
This drama stays in my mind for so long, Xu Feng and Jinmi chemistry won me over, I don't normally rewatch dramas but I watched some of its eps again numerous times. I won't say it's a perfect drama, that little princess and her man's story was not my type and I had issues with the plot in between but overall it's one of my favourite C-drama.
I don't mind Hyun Ji's character, I think it was needed, nor I care about the ship, I just hope Jenny gets proper revenge and her character doesn't get weak, her persona which always makes her ahead of her enemies is the quality of the drama. I don't want to see weak Jenny Jang, also hope Sunwoo doesn't die in the end, I won't be able to take it.
