Yes! I like that it was practical cause it was smart and for their time period, it’s really what’s needed. I seriously believe if FL wasn’t smart, she would have fallen and married XY and face a lot of hardships no matter how much he loves her. There were just too many variables.
But because FL lead is smart and while might have been intrigued by SML, she nipped it in the bud and didn’t entertain the thought. She knew she couldn’t afford to fall for him so he can only remain a friend and nothing more.

Essence of the novel is there but honestly, i think they made it better plus some relationships are different. One thing that is consistent is our main leads though and their relationship. FL lead didn’t meet the ML until like almost chapter 150 so it made sense that that has to be amended. But that also madesense why the main leads didn’t have a lot of scenes before he confessed to her. I felt like that was made in line with the book. He had nothing to do with the Gu family affairs.

CYY character was made for Ci Sha. The whole time i read the book last year, it was Ci Sha who came to life and he did not disappoint at all in the drama. He is the character.
Don't forget he has a serious inferiority complex when it comes to his uncle. That probably affects his behavior…
