Okay, thanks so much, i'll wait for the official translation!

Hi, so I saw that ep. 2 and further are translated in english by AI, and I was wondering: is the translation okay? And do we know if and when there will be human-made translations of these episodes ?

They do! The last couple of episodes are very sweet and you can tell that they have romantic feelings for each other.

so what i'm getting from these comments is the plot's boring and the rating is inflated because of iu fans??
I didn't find it boring at all and I didn't know IU before watching it. It depends on what you are looking for in a drama I guess.

Why are people rating this even though it just started? That makes me angry, and it makes me particularly mad…
Yes, I agree with all the comments. I really don't mind if people don't like a drama and rate it low, even though it's a drama I personnaly liked. That's just normal, taste and stuff. But without watching it? That's just bullsh*t.
So yeah, it's either lesbophobia or the lack of subtitles. And I think that's sad because I waited for this kind of drama for such a long time (and I know I'm not the only one), and the lesbian and bisexual representation is SO important because it's so rare, and I don't know, well, it's not cool to rate it so badly for reasons people either have to deal with on their own (their internalized lesbophobia) or that have nothing to do with the drama itself (subtitles).

Why are people rating this even though it just started? That makes me angry, and it makes me particularly mad because we finally have a chinese GL story and people are rating it low without even watching it. Just go away already.

Ahh ok thanks I really didn't get that. You're right it's kind of sad (I was expecting that, I kept crying in all the episodes anyway because I expected the end to be sad. If the ending was happy I would have been kind of disappointed haha), but it's also a hope for the future because they will meet again for sure! :)

OK now I have to make a second and spoiler free post just to say this: Go Chung Myung is SO DAMN BEAUTIFUL.
Here it goes.
Like, he is so handsome, I just cannot get over it. It got to the point that when he appeard on screen I immediatly started CRYING because he is just SO HANDSOME.
Yeah sure, the music doesn't help, everytime he showes up there is this melancholic melody playing, , but still, I'm thirty years old for god's sake, why I am crying every time this dude shows up with his hair and his face and his smile. I don't get it. Anyway, my profile picture is his face now, so maybe that will help me get over it. Or not, whatever.
Anyway, sorry fot that, I will now leave.

It all happend in less than 5 minutes, I think I really missed the point :') If someone could help me I would be so grateful hahahaha

I did not know there was I book when I watched TU and I did not know that it would be a love story between two men but around ep 15-16 (if I remember it right, the cave episodes) it became REALLY clear to me that this was not a bromance hahaha. Si I think you can get it even if you didn't know what it was about in the first place.

While we anxiously wait for HOB, I have a general question about the BL/Danmei genre purely out of curiosity.…
I can talk only about myself and the people I know who read/watch some (or a lot) of bl, so here it goes: I'm not straight. The majority of people I know who read and or watch bl are from the queer community, and not all of them are girls. That would be my first point.

As for me, I only watch censored bl's, because I really hate the way that the sexual relationships are portrayed in alot of bl's. It's really rapey and I hate that kind of stuff, i have no interest in seeing or reading about people who get raped, I don't care if they are men or women.

I also watch boy's love because it's kind of impossible, or almost, to find girl's love, especially in the form of chinese costume drama's, which I'm particularly fond of. But I would LOVE to watch gl.

But, to get to the point of your question: what I really like about bl is that, well, it's not a straight love story hahaha. It's so hard to find love stories who are not about straight characters. And an overwhelming majority of queer love stories in western countries (where I live) only focus on the queerness and are veeeery dramatic and sad because the characters are queer. It's like the message is "being queer is horrible, let us show you how your life will be miserable, enjoy, bye". In the bl stories I saw (I din'd watch alot yet so I'm just takling about the few I saw), the queerness is not the main focus of the story (also because it's censored): the plot is usually about something else, and the characters just happen to be gay (or queer in a broader way). And that's AMAZING. I really love that aspect. And also, because it's censored, in a very paradoxal way, being queer just seems normal in this stories. Like, yes, sure, everyone is gay, no need to talk about it or make it "a thing", it's SO relaxing to watch. Nobody is bullied or killed or raped because they are queer. That's so relaxing.

I also like that the carachters are not portrayed in a stereotypical way, even if I have the impression that some people try to reinforce stereotypes ("he is obviously bottom because he behaves in a feminine way" - and bullshit like that), they are not there to begin with in the dramas I have seen.

And (sorry my comment is so long hahaha) I really like that the feelings the characters have towards each other are so strong, and that they tell it to each other, they cry, they laugh, they really show us another type of masculinity, a more fragile, more caring, more human one. And that's very diffierent from the way masculinity is portrayed in western countries, and I really really love to see that.

Finally (or so I hope haha), portraying two gay men is a way of escaping sexist tropes. It's so hard to write a straight relationship in which the carachters don't have at least some level of stereotypical gender behaviour. And so it's difficult to write original love stories. I have the feeling that writing same gendered relationships helps authors portraying more original characters, because they are not "bound" by gender roles. I don't know if what I say is understandable, sorry, it's difficult to explain this in english. And again, escaping this stereotypical behaviour would also be possible by writing gl. Why isn't there more gl? That is really a question I cannot answer because it's a mystery to me.

Anyways, I'm really happy I discovered that kind of bl. I know it's not ok that I am ok with the cesored versions (or that I prefer the censored version actually), because homophobia, but I'm relly triggered by rape the scenes, even more if they are romanticized, which is the case in a lot of bl's. So yes, I have to say that part of why I watch and love dramas like TU of WOH is because they are censored.

I'm really looking forward to read other answers to your questions, thank you for asking it, it's really interesting to think about this.

At the end of ep 1 on youtube there seems to be a biography of Wangdao and a summary of part of the history of the foundation of the communist party. Sadly they are not translated in english. Does anyone know the translation?

Well I'm sorry but I just scrolled down the comment section and like, the only ones I see "sparking unecessary confrontations" are the non Chinese people who are saying "this is propagada" "everyone was forced to play in it" and so on. Like your first comment actually. So if you want to avoid confrontation, maybe you shouldn't have written your comment that way?
Once again, I find it really really weird that so many people focus on the propaganda aspect when it come to FMG and the CCP and never talk about this kind of aspect while watching movies like Captain America (and every marvel movie ever made) or James Bond for example.

If you want to want to respect people from China, maybe stop thinking that their belives are biased and yours are not.

Title The Wolf Spoiler
They'll go back and forth. From what I remember she finds out his real identity in ep. 19? They're gonna have…
Hi, thanks for your answer! :)
Yes, I know that he wanted to kill her love for him but like, if he wanted to do that he could have just...told her he killed her parents? Or tell her, you know "I'm not in love with you, bye" and then not act so stupid and come back to her all the time. I mean I think there are litterally a billion better solutions than "fake" try to rape someone and humiliate her in front of a lot of people.
And he has no right to make this kind of decision without her, he doesn't know hoe she would react once she found out about her parents, why would he assume that she would want revenge and act accordingly even though he obviously cannot know how she will react?
The way he acts is horrible and he such a toxic person, he doesn't respect her or love her and the fact that she dies to save him only makes this story and it's message way way way worse from my point of view.

I'd like to kindly remind everyone that because this is a political series, to only watch for actors and not touch…
I'm sorry, but I don't really understand the purpose of your comment. Like, why shouldn't we touch the political aspect of it? I mean I'm going to watch this series because of the actors I know, sure, but mostly because of the political aspects. How a country presents itself is wildly interesting!
And also, I find it kind of sad that you would post about that on a C-Drama. Would you do the same on any drama from a western country? I mean sorry, almost all the popular movies produced by the US are ONLY propaganda and the same goes for alot of movies/series from western countries. But the western countries are ruling the world culturally so we would never say "oh but that is propaganda" because we don't even see it like that.
The oly difference is that Faith makes Great is clearly stated to be propaganda by the chinese government. Which is in fact much more honest and much better, because no one is trying to fool anyone. The western culture try to present their propaganda like it is not propaganda, which is very hypocritical.

I undertsand where your comment is coming from but I think it's really important that we question our own points of view.
