PoJ did not leave me spellbound at all! I agree what the other posters here wrote about the story. On top for me the romance in the first 16 ep did not work. It felt so fake. Either the actors couldn’t get it across or it was due to the writing. There was no face off in the ending. They clearly couldn’t decide in which direction to go with Qi Min character. He was a crazy villain through and through but then they wanted to make him look pitiful and more a grey character. But someone who tortures a child and his own at that (!) can never be a grey character and people who find him hot have a serious problem. Only memorable character was Wei Yan. The actor also totally stole the show, which was underlined in the unnecessary „what if“ sequence.

Started to watch 1ep.... So far it is poor story telling and not very well acted. I am not sure I can handle it…
Well you could just rewatch POJ if that’s what you like best. I found it mediocre. IMO acting in the first 16 episodes was quite bad actually, especially by FL actress. She got better then and the drama got decent after ep16, but then they butchered the ML. And we did not see a single real fight of ML. There was no face off in the end , very anti climactic. Also everybody was raving about how hot QM was - a character who tortured a child and his own at that! Come on. And don’t get me started on the parallel universe. Nonsensical. I forgot to say how illogical her development to a super fighter was, an illiterate butcher who out of the blue became the best general.
Why are ppl against Arthur Chen? I don’t understand the hate, he’s one of my fav actors.
Because his father is the famous director Chen Kaige. But Fei Yu is so good at what he does, plus extremely handsome, and has a physique that makes his action scenes look actually credible , so I guess haters take his father as an excuse.
