Story is going according to IS's timeline. If she time travel to present time we won't see past without her vis versa. It'll be less confusing imo

They are taking the story in a right way as the old IS is actually like the SML but the TT IS is focused and wants to protect ML that's giving the variations, they can't take off the past life incidents of IS, especially when TT IS is not in the pic in 2008.

Going back only change her timeline and accordingly ML's too (very very slowly but the impact will be seen in future. The way story is unfolding, the story of IS is changing but in a long run it will impact ML's timeline.
