I have different take, I genuinely think that lby is just too scared of losing her, like he said , she can be herself outside of the palace, but not in palace where one wrong step can lead to the death of her and her family. He was shocked, hurting and scared when hearing what happened to ShaoShang,, that's why he wants ShaoShang to see him as her husband, as family that she is safe to share everything with, not some outsiders.
