Gao Liang's story is appearing increasingly inconsistent. He's earned merits and grown and is shown letting go of JNZ and then an episode later he's two steps back. They really should have given each one separate love lines (if it was even necessary in war/action). Romance is overshadowing the brotherhood bond between Gao Liang and Gu Yiye (which wasn't even properly developed) with constant tension over JNZ. Barring the scenes from the war, to me it looks like a romantic melodrama/comedy with any number of people having unrequited crushes and a couple whom everybody wants to break up for any number of reasons.
I felt so bad for GYY. He has to sacrifice his love for JNZ so he can take care of A Xiu and her baby just because…
All the episodes after the war have shown that guilt is overwhelming all other emotions for Gu Yiye. If he'd been relatively balanced, he might be able to differentiate between love/guilt. Although who knows he might really end up loving A Xiu but I'm not a fan of marriage due to guilt or guilt to love.
I wish I could find the time periods passing with a bit more clarity. Maybe it's just me but I'm confused how much time (exactly) has actually passed by?
I hardly think romance is what the board is interested in, especially for a propaganda piece. Gao Liang represents…
I think labeling it immoral is pushing it although I was explaining GL's economic situation where he couldn't study. The main theme is military growth indicative of the entire country's development and that is why they show GL at the very bottom. It's a rags to riches story so showing his faults initially so he can overcome them is the point.
Gu Yiye just came back from the hospital and seeing A Xiu he knows she is suffering. He doesn't know what to do…
It's not about GL whether or not he loves JNZ. No matter how you spin it, here in this case clearly Gu Yiye is in the wrong and the wronged one should be JNZ.
I really want to know how a main character like Gao Liang got past the review board. Any military drama goes to…
I hardly think romance is what the board is interested in, especially for a propaganda piece. Gao Liang represents nearly all Chinese citizens in that period who grew up along with the country's development. A person like Gu Yiye would be in minority today, nevermind undeveloped China in 80's.
Throughout the ep. 13 I just wanted to beat up Gao Liang tbh. The ending of the episode and ep. 14 made it better…
Gao Liang has acted childishly all this while. While I really doubt whether he has wrong thoughts, his childish actions show his immaturity. I'd think he'll grow up now.
Wow, it's like the screenwriter got changed in episode 14. Suddenly Gao Liang is talking like an adult, rather…
I think this is the turning point for Gao Liang. He's shown studying books and learning to improve himself. The question about dog and cat seems to indicate that he'll grow from 'dog' to 'cat'. Perhaps that's why he sounds like an adult. With the whole breakup issue, whatever others said, the decision was taken by JNZ unilaterally. Maybe they'll talk it out instead of Gao Liang acting in between. As for Zheng Yuan and 'soldier first' I'd put this idea to propaganda.
I forgot what episode it was, but Gao Liang the Mulan just killed me with his book of marital arts, channeling…
That's comedy gold 🤣 "It's lost martial arts" All his antics make it look like it's a romantic comedy with fun and fighting for girls when we know it's not.
Has the timeline been explicitly mentioned? Or there would be a time gap i think because if the synopsis is correct then it covers a lot of years to portray completely.
No one is showing any grudge as far I can see. They have treating them fairly equally. If giving advice is favoritism…
Instance of what? If you mean additional help to Gu Yiye, then that happens before the shooting competition where he got help from Lu pingfan. Qin han yong even says to him that " If you help him then I have to help Gao Liang".
I really don’t understand what their grudge is against Gu Yiye while showing favoritism to GL, who, in my opinion,…
No one is showing any grudge as far I can see. They have treating them fairly equally. If giving advice is favoritism then Gu Yiye has got more help from the commander of 1st company who quite clearly favours him. Also Gu yiye is not a typical soldier. If this a growth story then I'll prefer to watch someone go from rags to riches rather than someone who's already had a big headstart.
