I think you are automatically assuming dramas that has those ancient costumes are historical, most of those are xianxia dramas( internationally it could be considered as fantasy dramas). There are more xianxia dramas than historical ones since the china regulatory board are more strict when it comes to their history. But even if they do historical ones, their history is so rich and fascinating. Did you know that Scarlet Heart with IU was a Cdrama adaptation that was loosely based on real history of China - the power struggle of princes to becoming the emperor. I was a long time fan of Cdramas, way back when ZLS was still starting, tbh her story was was kinda tragic, she and even her mother never expected her to be famous, they just thought she should just give it a try hence, she joined a small agency. She was worked to the bone by the company. I think one of the reason why she was dubbed a 'traffic star' was because her company was really not selective on her projects, there was a time she was doing dramas after dramas and she was in everything. So I kinda understand why she needs to take a break. Her agency really did abused her.

True, I don't dare judge people for turning to those illegal sites, but randomly complaining to MDLs about not having the episodes soon enough is kinda off. I bought all the express episodes for ZLS.

I skip most of the QL scenes, I honestly don't like her. And her suddenly being in charge of their company when she has neither the experience nor the education to actually make any type of decision does not really make sense.

The first few episodes of the romcom eps., William chan was kinda awkward and after a few more, he kinda grows into the goofy character. I think this is his first foray into romcom

If you think kdramas are better that cdrama sthen you have not watch a lot of cdramas. Most of the great cdramas are really not popular with international audiences. Just to give you an overview or maybe a background, producers, writers and directors of cdramas have a lot of restrictions that they need to follow and sometimes those restrictions even comes even after the whole drama was filmed and it needs to be approved for review before it will be shown. Most of the cdramas with love genres are not really made for critics mostly just for entertainment hence great cdramas are rarely a love story. they don't really do cliffhangers because releases of episodes are really not set up like kdramas like 2 or 4 eps. a week. Just like LA, they release all the remaining episodes today.

Ikr, I can't even like Qiao Lin (I like the actress) yes she was also a child at that time but for someone who is bubbly and sweet, she did not even remember her sister's bday. I think the reason why SHM did not believe XY love him was simply because he did not know the emotional abused and neglect she suffered from her parents. I mean, on paper it would appear XY is just a cold hearted b*tch, I doubt it if his investigation would indicate that she was neglected/abused as child by her parents

The band-aid was a significant memory for XY, if not for the band-aid I don't think she would ever fall for SHM. I think it was explained better in the novel but instead of the band-aid, it was the bed. They share a bed in the novel , growing up - XY had always wanted a solo bed ’coz it would represent that she was an only child. XY was never jealous or she never aspired to be one of those society ladies but rather she wanted to be QL because QL was wanted and loved by her parents. She had a love/hate type of feelings towards QL.
