Like the other person said, I think the issue at this point is Arabs have severely overreacted and created a huge…
I completely agree with you. Most people don't even understand why this could be offensive. If you don't know about something, it won't bother you or matter to you. That's why it's better to stay quiet if you don't have much knowledge, unless you're trying to learn more. I'm glad the production team took responsibility because they clearly didn't do enough research. Personally, I see this as a big problem.
documentary or not when it is shown on TV without any proper research it is a crime. Every culture has traditions,…
Some Muslims drink alcohol, right or wrong morally.....but the drama made it seem realistic as if everyone drinks, especially when portraying a character who probably doesn't drink at all.
it was never a documentary nor claimed to represent all the arabs or anything, whatever the country there are…
I understand your point, but I have a different opinion. Even though the drama wasn't meant to be like a documentary or represent all Arabs, we should still consider the effects of how characters and cultures are shown in media. Even if it wasn't supposed to be serious, the way they depict characters and cultures can still shape how people think and reinforce stereotypes.
While the drama showed friendships and teasing between characters, we need to remember that how cultures are portrayed matters. When certain attitudes or actions are connected to a specific culture, it can lead to misunderstandings and stereotypes. Even if it was meant to be lighthearted, it can still affect how people see things.
Also, this issue is bigger than just individual characters. Media has a strong influence on how society thinks, so it's important for creators to be responsible and show cultures accurately and respectfully. Even if the drama doesn't claim to represent a whole country or culture, we need to think about the wider impact it can have on viewers. Instead of ignoring these concerns and saying it's just about labels dividing us, we should strive to understand each other better and promote media that is fair and respectful. By having open discussions, we can bridge gaps in understanding and create a more inclusive and kind society.
this is not a problem of South Korea . Arab people here expect another country to show a bright and perfect face…
think you missed something here. The intention was to portray their culture as beautifully as possible. However, the Arab culture was completely disrespected, especially considering the knowledge of Muslim practices and the illegality of certain actions in some countries. It's not just any random person, but they portrayed a whole prince, who is highly respected and represents their country. This time, I believe the production team did a poor job. They should have conducted proper research beforehand. And of course, it's not a problem for South Korea since it is not their own culture anyway.
Kim na young should be the main character here, her character development is huge, and the only story that is much more interesting is her....in my opinion.
I love how Kim na young made sucha huge character development, she is definitely much smarter now, while Song jung ah has a-lot to loose like daaamn. Hwang ji hye is just extra, her character is much unneeded, and Jang mi ho is hard to determine if she is cunning everyone or just plain stupid and ruining stuff. So far so good.
So how are we standing so far? I still haven't started watching yet, but I'm truly intrigued by a whole group…
The gender of the leads doesn't determine if a show is good or not. What matters is the story, characters, and how it's written. If you're interested in the plot and the show has good stuff to offer, give it a chance. Judge it based on its storytelling, not just because it has group of female as leads.
After finishing this drama I finally could understand how people rated 8,7 not 10!!! This drama was the best, most entertaining, I loved all the characters and all the couples. I was rooting for all the couples, they were all cuties and so natural. The story was amazing too. However, I was so disappointed how they made us believe that the Empyrean was the strongest man out of these four realms but then he couldn't even get out of the spell when they were about to kill his woman. A-lot of disappoints here and there but overall amazing series and it kept me going all the way to the end. Am quite content with the ending actually, I couldn't think about how else it would have ended.
I just finished watching the show and let me tell you, it was a rollercoaster of emotions. On one hand, I loved how the show tackled some really important and heavy topics like abuse within the family and trauma that need to be addressed. But on the other hand, some scenes were just plain questionable. I don't get the fact that people calling King's character green flag lol? It just didn't make sense to me. I get that some families might not realize the harm they're causing to their kids, but come on, how could his mom just get away with it like that? The story itself was kind of weird, and they put a lot of random scenes together. But I have to admit, the main characters were really cute and had some great scenes. Overall, I enjoyed the show, but I can't ignore the flaws. Still, I appreciate that they tried to bring awareness to important issues.
The actor that plays Jade should look for another job. Acting ain't it.
I totally get where you're coming from, but in my opinion, the script and his character was just plain bad. I mean, I've seen this guy in other series and he was pretty darn good, but this time it just didn't cut it for me as well
Why do they always think in Asian dramas a little rain will make you sick? Where did they get that idea from?…
technically it does, rain it self doesnt cause cold, but being exposed to cold for period of time can weaken your immune system, making you more susceptible to catching a cold or the flu. Also if you get soaked in the rain and then stay in wet clothing for an extended period of time, this can also lower your body temperature and make it harder for your immune system to fight off infection.
