I doubt they will stop making straight shows. They do make money if they get the right people and right storylines. High school frenemy did quite well, as well as Leap day is trending over 500k last week. I think the dark dice will be another hit straight series. And they can always hide some straight couples in y series, like cherry magic, my love mix-up, perfect 10 liners etc etc

To your question about why we like it: I personally love seeing new faces. I'm getting tired of seeing the same old cps in every series. In this series we're getting not one, not two, not three but four new couples. (I don't count KenPaul and thk since it was so small)
Also, all four of the main actors are making their main acting debut. It's okay for them to be a bit inexperienced and even "weird" since they're still looking for their style and place in the acting industry.
This series with a light and almost boring storyline is perfect for them to build their foundations for future projects.

We haven't gotten a rookie highschool gmmtv series since last year when Only Boo aired. Before that was My School President. Gmmtv has always used lighter highschool series to introduce us some new young faces.

and sometimes people just want to watch something cute and fluffy instead of that heavy mature stuff, especially when the world is going the way it is right now.

I would love to see Luke play in a series with maybe one of the Felizz girls. He's giving so strong "I will protect you from all the bad and spoil you and let you wear my clothes and bring you chocolate when you're menstruating" vibes. (I don't care what he maybe used to do when he was younger, I'm sure he's more mature now)

He might even become the next big actor in straight dramas, if Dew's finally stepping to bl/bromance side 😂.

I'm not saying he shouldn't play queer roles. I just think he would be so good in straight roles also

There are two non-married/engaged thai bl couples that I believe are "real", DaouOffroad and ZeeNuNew. Like, they're pretty obvious about it. And I believe they both have said that quite many times. While I'm against thinking non-real couples are real, I'm also against thinking real couples are not real. I believe it hurts them even more when people call their relationship "fanservice" or "fake".
