Last season was a disaster because a few members got so much hate on Weibo from it and Neo her co star got the brunt of black marketing from it. Poor guy smh. I was following it closely. I just think it is mostly because most of the cast didn't gel together. I think that it was their worst season to date because prior to it I know that Dilraba participated in it and there were never really any controversies.

I do not like the casting of against the current ML . At All. He doesn't fit the ML role at all and it has nothing to do with Go ahead. Very disappointed with this. Visually it's not a match at all. I feel like the ML of this drama needed a more rugged, mature look and he doesn't give that at all. Still hoping that it is a rumour.

True historical dramas are always tragic though .It would not make sense for the FL to have a happy ending because a woman in these times would most likely not have a good ending either.
I still remember Empresses in the Palace and how the FL and all the women in that drama for that matter were just encountering tragedy after tragedy; not 1 moment of peace smh and this was loosely inspired from real events. A Masterpiece.
Regarding all the miscarriages ; this was common practice back then; having a baby even as a concubine will elevate your status compared to others hence why there were so many women plotting against each other to cause all these miscarriages. Just terrible !!!

So The ML is 12 years older ....interesting. I didnt know that but DYX is the only ML who has been attached to this project since the beginning. It is only the FL that keeps changing. I saw 2 other FLS attached to it before 7's name (which is now constant). If he is indeed the ML like I think he is, then it is obvious that there are going to be quite a lot of changes in the plot which seems to be some people concerns.

The leads very popular; the drama entered so many categories at the end of the year with all these other popular dramas where 70/80% of them were costume dramas. It won the CVB of the year at Mango TV and when you see all these big dramas it was up against, this is huge. It won another award at Tencent the other day and gave her another individual trophy last year. I could go on........ I am starting to feel like some people maybe had too much expectations on BO and when it didnt go the way they thought it would go, they think that 2024 wasnt a good one for her. Everything you described from the book is actually sadly how it was for women in these times so the book is actually realistic in that sense even though it is obviously reprehensible and would not be acceptable today at all.
In these times, in these ancient dynasties, women had to gain favors for men just to survive; that's just the way it was; concubines, legal wives had to do everything they could do just for survival. And for these men, they were mostly treated like objects(I hate to say this smh but this was the reality, especially when these men had so many concubines and could do whatever they wanted with them :/ ) .
1 of the reasons I like Harem dramas is because I get a glimpse of how it was in these times for these women and I am grateful that we are living in much better times now. I feel sorry for how these women used to live but I believe learning a part of history and see how things used to be is important.

I would've preferred another lead actress for it. No issues with yejin but if I remember clearly that movie is extremely explicit and if they stay close to the original, I wouldn't be surprised if people drag JCW in some ways. That's just my opinion on it.
