In the novel, Porsche's mom did not survive the suicide attempt. In the novel Korn kept their mother's body preserved perfectly so Porsche would be able to see her. Kan (for some reason his name is Gun in the series) was in love with her, raped her and killed her husband. The big gun battle actually happened at Porsche's old home and Kan was killed. Kinn and Porsche ended up together. So did Kim and Chay because in the novel Kim was in uni (I think 1st year) while Chay was in high school (maybe 12th grade) so their ages were closer. They also loved each other very much and to the end of the novel, Chay was even a bit sassy
