I think (just my opinion), he acted that way to Chay for a reason. Usually in these situations on drama once the truth is revealed then their actions at the time becomes understandable.

When Porsche was kidnapped, Chay was taken from then to the main family's house to live. In the novel, Kim is still in uni so he and Chay are closer in age. They played video games together a lot when Chay moved in. From there, their relationship blossomed. I must agree with @tangoecho ( below) that their story was not as much as in the series.

i must say that I am well satisfied with EP. 11! I loved every moment of it especially the VP moments. Porsche new bodyguard selection for Kinn had me laughing so hard. Although I have read the novel, I will appreciate the series for what it is and the changes made. I LOVE IT!!!

In the novel, Chay and Kim end up together. Chay was more outspoken too. The whole Kim investigating Chay's parents' deaths is not in the novel so I do not know how their storyline will develop and end.
