First, the beginning was already confusing as hell. But that't sort of part of Cdrama beginnings. Just, to me,…
so im only on ep 22 so can only respond about eps before then but i understand everything ur saying so we must be around the same point [i just typed all this then saw ur on ep 15 lol so their shouldnt be too many spoilers]
"during the scene where Shanbao and Jianlai look at each other for the first time, they already knew each other" - i do think you just misinterpreted this scene because i read it as - especially his expression was like "wait who was that" because if you view that scene she clearly looks very different to the rest of the women around her despite her being in somewhat of a like lowerclass/maid disguise.
"he seemed completely lost and naive, and then all of a sudden he became super cunning."i think.. when dealing with a character who has amnesia you shouldnt take it too seriously because their memories always come back in such a dumb way lmaoo , like anmesia trope is really the most unserious trope ever but his personality changes can be explained easily if you watch the trope before the most cliche use of it is that when someone loses their memories its like their personality resets, most of the time its like it resets to what it was before the character suffered intense trauma and so the "reset" personality is more free and childlike, in some cases some of their actual personality will slip through so i think thats what ur seeing with him there, atleast thats how i inturpreted it
"Then, Shanbao almost immediately seemed to be interested in him. There was no real explanation as to why she was into him. For such a smart person, I found that super lack luster. I imagined that she would fall for him because of him being smart or a good match to her" they subtly showed that she was falling for him everytime he helped her by being smart literally i cant remember exact examples but i rewound everytime it happened because she would do this smirk that was like "hmm this interesting" also im not sure but i assumed during their first meet they had both seen eachothers faces and so she already knew who he was and his status - hes someone who i think has high enough status that it wouldnt be annoying to marry him and then everytime he does something smart that helps her she keeps adding ticks to his boxes
re. the husband challenges.. at first hes only taking part to help the cousin . then the cousin gets injured for abit and he makes the tea in place of the cousin and i think one of the sisters is like well.. he should be another candidate since he made good tea, and like thats all they rlly care about tbh and the sisters were def being messy and trying to set her up because they thought he WAS just a stable boy and there is push back from the other men in the contest, i swear they try to kill and injure and poison him lol - but i think the context missing here which is constantly shown throughout the show with the ML stating it many times is - just how powerful of a family the rongs are and how they basically run their city, so even if people had an issue with her marrying the stable boy the only issue is that people would gossip, it wouldnt hinder their actual power or status, the only true barrier to their relationship was the grandma because if the rongs run the city and grandma runs the rongs then who is the top? grandma.
back to funshengs personality again.. he has amnesia so lol i think its ok for him to be all over the place but, as he starts unlocking more of his lost memories his personality starts to slowly go back more into his old one, and then when he gains them all and finds his like assistant? also he never.. didnt care about his old idenity so im abit confused, it def shows him grappling with the fact that hes now in love with FL and wants to marry her but he also wants to be a good official, its such a cliche trope seen in like romcoms.. almost like "i was dared to go out with you so i did but now i really like you and idk what to do bc if u find out this started because of a dare u wont like me then i die" lol
re.u not liking his attitude, i cant really say anything about that bc thats just how u view him - i can see where ur coming from but its just not something that annoyed me personally because i liked him doing that stuff
and i would have to disagree about shanbao being stupid and letting him get away with everything.. like what? she takes his advice and trusts him , idk maybe im missing something lol

how are you watching the drama btw? when i tried to watch it on IQIYI the subs made like no sense idk what was going on there, subs are much better on VIKI. Ill try to repsond to some of your points in a another comment with spoiler
omg the way i was waiting for AOD to air and forgot and now i come to see its done and this series is out and almost done too omg how r yall watching pls cuz i forgot
i love this drama!! its the first time im able to finish a modern c drama ever. I think if you love art youll adore this drama bc of their jobs and then even the vr game has fun character designs and artwork. I love how paramount their jobs are to this, so many fun building metaphors in the script and then the random game thing is so fun and keeps you hooked in juxtaposition to the slower pace of the "real" world. the 2nd fml [fl bestie] has an amazing storyline too and their friendship is so heartwarming. I think the characters are very well done, you can understand the characters motivations and thoughts without it literally being told to you. Idm tropes as long as theyre done well and any trope in this drama is done fantastically like yknow some dramas have the whole family business thingy as a sub plot to the romance and ive always found it boring but its done well in this because the character development and also again because i love art i actually find the business stuff interesting like getting insight into how architecture works is so fun and interesting to me
does anyone know the name and artist of the "special night" song plsssss ? def made the drama that much better for me i smiled everytime it came on lol
Just a heads up for anyone that thought the subtitles for this drama were bad, there is a good chance you were…
i think the reason is because they translate what the dubbed english actors are saying instead of the actual translated script, and they like change words /phrases so that the shape of the original actors mouth matches the english dubbed words more its so weird lol. they might do it the same in every language but i only know english and the little korea i understand i could tell that the dramas are not being translated correctly lol
The poster is so ugly and really doesn’t do justice to how good the drama actually is. It doesn't capture the…
well.. the poster got me to click LOOl its pretty to me then i checked the actors then the synopsis and thought it sounded really cool so ima watch🤣 but maybe i will feel the way u do when i watch it cuz there is def a disconnect between the poster and the synopsis but both still made me wanna watch
“I used to pay very little attention to the weather. But now it’s the very first thing I think about when I wake up. How will the sky greet me today” I sobbed at this. It seems like such a throw away line but it’s so deep. Loved this show. Some of the writing was abit silly and I wish we got abit more at the end but overall amazing and a great message. That coleen hoover lady could learn a lot from this lmao
