I don't know what makes you think that shorter drama means you don't get a script or theyre bad. When they can be the best in writing lol wtf. I know that most international cfans only watch two kinds of drama "Modern romance" and "Costumes" but i’m glad that Xu kai is broadening his horizons. It's this kind of drama that are often real successes in China and that allow to be taken seriously not idols drama. These kinds of dramas are rather the hardest to challenge your acting because you need impeccable performance until the end to keep audience hooked. I hope he will continue to take this kind of script even if on MDL the few users who watch are always the same but this is not the case in China. They have an bigger audience for this. Just look at their rating on douban and sometimes the heat index. Cdrama suspense and thrillers are so fucking good and underrated on mdl. Theyre so many successful "short" as you call them loll. They can get ahead of costume drama both in rating and heat. Just iqiyi light on series random 16-18 eps get to be do good. You need to check some like The long season, Reset, The long Night, Bad Kids, Burning ice, Homesick, The lonely warrior, imperfect victim, Under the skin, interlasced scene, Regeneration, Escape from the trilateral slopes,…a lot of more pretty good.
