What I appreciated was this drama for everything it had to offer from the uniqueness bgm, nice-looking visual from cgi to costume, cool draw characters, fluttering chemistry, easy soft storyline and her character/acting are part of it. Yes, I plan to watch "The story of Ming Lan" which is on my list.

I'm going to repeat myself again in a little shorter. This is a romance xianxia story and what refreshing is the romance build-up. It was a blast to not have all things which can make hard watching this genre. Let’s me enumerated/ reincarnation with endless misunderstanding, repetitive villains(evil heavenly emperor for example), glue/persistant love interest, no noble idiocy, against each other just after a little scheme, the leads have some personality not a recycle especially the cold ML cliché or the naive FL, no excessive angst but light-heart rather fun comedic to watch, no real annoying character at least not for long, simple plot that doesn't spread, not lacking build-up for romance, bleeding heavily/dying from any fights or attempt to saving, etc. The premise is already seen someone who escapes from a forced marriage must have happened in the name doing for the sake of others but that is not the whole story however. You can't just brush off everything else about what Shen Li is fighting for apart from the forced mariage, her general duty, narrative in the 2 realms, love, origins and XZ having to shoulders heavy responsibility for the 3 realms survival, his God existence question, opposition, love and past..What evolves is their love for each other in showing and given that makes sense after the emotional setting around them.

For what matters personally, I really liked Shen Li's resilience in not taking orders from anyone. She was both a strong willed woman always ready to do her duty to protect those she cares about but just as subtle she had her limits that only XZ seen. Of course, she wasn't flawless not everyone can appreciate this kind of person with a fiery personality. But that's why, the two of them went well together because although omnipotent XZ was this very distant but close person with a calm, passive temperament that melt her fire. In the same way XZ was depressed and afflicted without any real meaning and SL was his salvation. From all the restraint throughout his entire long life XZ have to do make up for him not having a fighter or hot tempered not just for giving us a strong fl. It’s such a blast to have a ml with an great depth interpret. They are rather mature leads who said things bluntly and remained lucid. More than anything the couple was really interesting and the plot was focus on their love. It was so enjoyable to watch, to each their individual taste no prob.

I have no idea what you’re talking about saying she played a lot strong fl, it was my first from her. If you don't like the actress work, don't hurt yourself to watch. Honestly, you won't be able to see everything that is refreshing in it. You're not into strong fl and this is your preference like I don't really enjoy watching weakling fl. So it all started with his stepmom, that's how he gradually fell into scam and being twist. The more we learn about FK, the more I feel sorry for him. Throughout his life, he was the victim of the adults.

Okay, I see it's rather like that no wonder, and this is a story which must show heroism therefore lesser hope. I don't think we'll get an epilogue. But it's a shame we won't have the historical content again for not being glorious after the whole political aspect around it.

This is so interesting to know about YS so maybe we'll get to see the royalty end and an rebellion glimpse when he succeed taking power.

I totally understand you on this part too. This is a xianxia where the couple are not much together through everything even after. It’s something I remember well, but I forgot about many things after watching fortunately it show how much the drama wasn't worth it to me. I'm far from being an overly romantic person but I was enchanted, captivated even enthralled by XZ and SL love dynamics, which will remain one of the best no matter how many xianxia come along. They managed to make you a couple that actually feel like one without stabbing imo. To each his preference, I respect that but I do like to talk about.

I’m talking about Ashes of love, i did like Ancient love poetry. AOL was a 5/10 being rational but because of the actors I raised my rating to 7/10 lol. I was seriously hyped to watch more, imagine the disappointment. The difference in good or bad plot is not the same for everyone depending on what or who will be appealing to you, a real liking matter. You know what i think about TLI already. Then, i think The legend of Shen li has gained an extra audience with quite a few people who don't like all these long and wearisome scheme.

Again the comparison is not appropriate but a taste question. The world building of this drama is set from the start as it is complete peace after years and years of conflict. The only problem still rampant were the Xutian Abyss links to the past. Just creating problems for the sake of misunderstandings to have more plot or story to tell has never been a good thing especially when you see how it can end up poorly and ultimately bore you. I’m glad they didn’t take that route already seen so many times. The writer made them both very powerful from the starts because the story was more about developing their romance as individual beings than about creating a bunch of disjointed subplots and there is absolutely nothing problematic to have a light plot that does not scatter from his promises. The tone of the drama was angst free set with the ammount of comedy so it made sense.

AOL was a struggle where you quickly ended up not giving a damn about the characters. They are almost all forgettable for me, it was. I don't even remember FL who becomes someone strong, even her last death to stop the war between the two brothers was rather pathetic when during the whole drama she didn't serve much purpose but once again it's a question of different point of view. The actors were a bit of a saving grace. We all have a different vision of weak plots.
LBFAD was good for me in the other hands plots wise and everything else. That said, I understand well what you want in relation to the fact that you would perhaps like it to see them start weak to evolve just to be more interested in watching. This is still interesting that we have different standpoint on which we cannot agree.

It’s explained why he can't act on his desires and you'll see what happens when he decides to do so. His feelings took a while to come around, because he had to figure out what he was feeling with all his pushing and pulling hence the slow burn. When losing Shen Li, it’s actually the moment he knows how much she’s important for him and his love for her although the ML is a supreme being he is in no way almighty and this was also explained. FL was also written as someone who fights her own battles and who doesn't need to be saved anytime therefore The legend of "Shen Li". His realm are lazy and incompetent who would be nothing if Xinzhi did not exist but they have a Heavenly Lord for all that concerns problems. XZ is more attached to the extranatural Law responsibilities thus his solitude. The two realms are not friends to help each other more like annoyance between them, and this forced marriage with Furong was supposed to dispel everyone's mistrust and allow him to be someone as a bridge. He can't intervene just because he wants to. She understands the ML problem well too. Even when he was walking around like you said, mostly because he was still observing for later purpose. I also think that it remains attached to his character being slow, composed, for the yin and because after having lived as long as you can remember you don't care about the notion of time. You’re wrong about that saying he’s useless because we’re not seeing what he did but they did talk about when he was in his realms why he’s so venerate. Its mere presence makes the space better. Even if we don't see much show of force from the ML with the FL in distress, but the few times she needed him. He was there to look for her, care for her and protect her. Something you probably didn't notice too that's been visible all along. SL takes care of the beating and XZ does the spells to understand how they functions together. He admires her and love to see her so strong. Don’t forget this is still an story about Shen Li first of all and I’m all for a drama actually showing a strong female lead not needy without a savior complex. To me, even so ML is one of the most powerful, interesting and refreshing MLs we've seen so far. Just with a simple movement of the hand you see it, the fact that you don't see him bleeding all the time, and the fact that he doesn't need to show it non-stop to feel it the few times he acts on. Anyway to everyone it takes on what you watch.

It's good to share your feelings after watching. I think it's a cup of taste question whether people like this one more than LBFAD and can like both without problems. I love LBFAD too, but this drama is such a breath of air without the same usual pattern. This xianxia amazed me just as much in a different way. I watch AOL for example, I find the plot very weak and FL is one of the most weakest i’ve seen in xianxia. I skipped so much through my watch such a struggle. We can’t all appreciate the same drama. I don't think that means, it's unvalid to have other liking for what it is. Not everyone is cut out to watch a slow motion plot that's okay. It's also a question of appreciating leads with real portrayal, especially in terms of personality and internal struggle. ML is supposed to be the last ancient god of all realms who is still standing, someone very alone who has lived longer than anyone else seen everything, not experienced everything, him being like this makes actually more sense for your comparison. This drama may not be for you if you want to watch what you watch in other xianxia rather than something new. Don't push yourself too much if you don't like it, it’s okay your not a hater at all lol.
