December 2020 :( it's so faaar away but I'm excited
Keep tabs, because those "31st of December" are always temporary dates, set because the official release date has not yet been announced. It might as well be in March or July or whatever. :)
Yay! First Love Stage!!, now this — so excited to see some of my favorite BL mangas come to life in 2020!
Dunno' if you're a fan of Mizushiro Setona's amazing two-volume story "The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese" and the sequel "The Carp on the Chopping Block Jumps Twice" but the first book has been adapted into a movie and will be released this year. I practically died of happiness. A VERY different type of story, though, if compared to the two titles you're excited for.
As far as I know, there is no scanlation available--the volumes are cheap in digital form (it will not be printed in physical form) and serious groups usually have the decency and respect for the author, to seize scanlation if a title is licensed. Comics are expensive, but we should try to support the industry as much as possible, then they also will leave the scanlation teams alone, as long as they keep the pirating within reasonable limits. I've worked scanlation on-and-off, for like, ten years--and I own all the volumes of "Sankaku..." but it wouldn't even occur to me to share them, since the masterful Yamashita Tomoko deserves her royalties. :)
Oh God, I hope they don't f*ck this up. I'll watch, and love it, either way--but if they mess this project up, I will cry. It's a demanding story with many, and complex layers--so it needs to be very well acted and planned.
Japan really lost ground on the BL/Gay theme scene during the last 5-10 years but lately, they've picked up the pace and chosen to go in a different direction than the ruling super-power Thailand and The Heir Taiwan. Focusing on manga/novel adaptations of darker/more controversial/obscure stories. Or just plain weird ones. I'm thrilled.
I can settle for raw, but I can't find it anywhere (including Asian torrent-sites)--which I find kind of odd considering that it's been out for eight days. Since I can't find it, I assume it's just not available--but if anyone does know where to find a raw version, I'd love to know :) (Not that my Japanese is all that good, but I'd be able to get most of it.)
At times, it's a bit amateurish, low budget and a bit messy in production - but I fell in love with the charm of the characters, the actors and their chemistry, immediately - love, love, love them!
Thanks for an interesting review. I wasn't sure about which drama to choose for my lazy saturday - but your review made me decide for Sotus, since it wasn't all "ohh this hot seme and that cute uke" and blah blah blah. I watch all BL, good or bad, but right now, after finishing several seasons of MIR and 2M, I need a bit more brain to it than just squeal worthy cuteness and stupid clichés.
Your last sentence sealed the deal - IMO, "Hormones" is by far the best teen show ever made for tv. Globally.
I'd even go as far as to say that it's one of the best drama series made for tv, overall.

Unfortunately, I think it'll be hard for you to get an invite like this. AvistaZ is strict on misuse of the accounts and the one who hands out an invite is personally responsible if the invited one doesn't comply to the rules or miuses their account. I would personally not invite anyone I don't know and trust - since I value my account there highly. I love war movies and this is a really good one. IMO, not as epic as some consider it, but still very good. And one of fairly few war movies which is bound to be able to keep most viewers watching, fans of the genre, or not. I've seen it a couple of times but my rating stands - 8,5.
Less melodrama would've ranked it higher for me.
No one makes thrillers like the Koreans - and this movie is one of the greatest examples. Definitely one of the best in the genre, globally, ever, period.

Well, this was disappointing. Should've known though... To this day I have never liked Fujiwara in any role due to his specialty - overacting...
The movie premise was good and could've made for an exciting watch, but unfortunately it fell kind of really flat. Quite boring actually. I found myself constantly fidgeting and losing interest and focus. The hints towards Christie's -And then there were none- are almost embarrassing rather than an hommage...
Watch something else instead. This isn't worth the time. It's not awful but I would never watch it again. I rated 5/10 - very mediocre.
