I'm only on ep 5 and I find it so funny how the girls are so outraged by Gwanhee's antics lol for the first time in their lives they're actually having to put in some effort instead of just expecting the guy to do everything and they can't even stand that lol Every female member this season is so full of herself honestly that I appreciate Gwanhee humbling them a bit. If this was a woman doing it to multiple men it would just be normal and no one would bat an eye, so I really appreciate how Gwanhee is so effortlessly getting on their nerves lmao And the fact that he's the underdog by virtue of being the least good looking out of all the guys is a bonus, shows it's not completely hopeless for the average looking guys in this cancerous modern dating culture.
Really enjoyed watching this, was really intrigued by the concept and eventually got to cheer for my endgame couples like all other reality shows lol
What I don't get is why the contestants, particularly the girls, would put in all this effort and go through such an emotional rollercoaster if they just plan to go back to their normal lives in Japan? I understand this is more of an "experiment" than an actual dating show, but even a show like "Future Diary" (which is an explicitly scripted experiment) produces couples that stay together beyond the show itself. This one on the other hand seems like it was purely just for the experiment and the "memories". Even with some of them hinting that they wanna see each other again, it comes across more like a big "if" which probably wear off over time because of the distance.
Idk if what I'm saying makes sense but dating shows usually have some people who are actually looking for love and not just "memories" or an "experiment", whereas here it seems that was an afterthought because the plan was to go back to their normal lives regardless of what happens lol just seems weird to me
In saying that, if anyone knows of what's become of the cast after this show (which seems was shot around April-May this year) please let me know in a reply thanks :)
In terms of time travel series, this is probably the one I've enjoyed the most despite all the questions it still…
Some of the unexplained plot points: - What was the point of EY confronting SK at the house while she was breaking stuff? What was the effect of that and the monologue she gave? Why do we not see anything about EY's family from 2023? - Didn't EY (as SK in 1995) visit Jonathan like a day or two before the real SK visited him when she came back from the US (6 June), and then went back to him to ask the question the real SK was afraid to ask? Did Jonathan not find that at all weird? Nor did he notice the change in personality? - YC finding the tape in 2023; what does this mean? Is he not wondering how EG got his hands on it? Also the bandmates as adults in 2023 said EG reminds them of someone, are we seriously just meant to accept that as an explanation for how EG's involvement in 1995 affected things so drastically while no one in 2023 (except EY) knowing he time travelled lol like no one actually recognises him? - A minor one; how did Yoon Dong Jin still end up a famous singer represented by MJ's agency if he never actually was part of the band in 1995, and therefore didn't get to meet MJ?
I realise this might be me nitpicking, but this kinda stuff is always my gripe with time travel stories. They only really work if you don't ask too many questions or think too hard or follow the plot too closely, because there's always stuff left unexplained or forced into the story out of convenience, more so than any other genre. All in all enjoyed it a lot despite what my ranting would have you believe lol
In terms of time travel series, this is probably the one I've enjoyed the most despite all the questions it still leaves me with. Even with so many plot points that are either skimmed over or left unexplained for convenience (I'll list some in a reply comment), which I realise is the norm for time travel stories, I still genuinely enjoyed watching it. Comparing this with Sisyphus for example, I am by far much more satisfied here all things considered lol I can see why this drama blew up, but personally for me it's a 8.5/10 (would give it 8.9 if I could).
Nothing against Jin Young, he's not someone I'd be mates with but I'm really glad Seulki chose Jong Woo instead. I think her going for someone who likes her for a change is a good change and I wish them the best.
Glad SoE chose Se Jun too, he's the type of guy who's really chill and cool to be around so all the best to them too.
Likewise with Han Bin, I feel so bad for him because he seems like such a cool dude, and so freaking accomplished as a chef at only 24 years old lol He was smiling from start to finish so I think he probably enjoyed his time the most out of all of them.
Interesting that there was the scene where Yoong Jae leans in while Seo Eun is lying on the bed in Paradise (trailer on Youtube) which wasn't included in the final edit? lol but happy for these two as well.
Min Su came too late to have any 'impact' (to use Jin Young's favourite word lol) so I do feel for her.
Dong Woo... just didn't click with Seulki from the very beginning. Their date in Paradise was so awkward and uncomfortable to watch, but he kept pining for her for some reason when arguably she should've opted for Nadine instead (same field and both speak English like bruh come on).
Se Jeong was probably the one I was least interested in, regardless of how much screen time she got. From her very first intro interview where she says she wants someone as hot as her, I had a bad impression of her. It was super obvious that she was model or something similar lol All the best to her but meh.
Nadine. Honestly her fans/stans/simps need to chill lol We get it; she goes to Harvard, she studies neurosci and compsci, is goodlooking and athletic. Good for her but the amount of comments I've seen that say "she's too good for all these guys" or "none of them deserve her" is honestly so ridiculous. She's a human being like all of them. Yes she's smart and has a lot going for her, but the way people put her on a damn pedestal is stupid. Not to mention the ones who say the reason no one chose her is because they're afraid of "sTrOnG iNdEpEnDeNt WoMeN" are on serious copium and need to grow up lol
All in all probs better than season 1, and definitely better than all the other trashy "dating" shows on Netflix and elsewhere. Now excuse me while I go watch the Swoon videos lmao
This love triangle between Seulki, Jinyoung, and Jongwoo just confirms to me that I will never understand how women think. How is Seulki so head over heels for the guy who has shown so little interest, beats around the bush, gives off major player vibes, just because she's "curious" about him? Over the guy who's been nothing but kind, caring, and committed to her from day one?
I'm not saying she's obligated to reciprocate his feelings, obviously not (he made that clear as well), but is she honestly so blinded by those silly fleeting emotions aka butterflies that she's gonna keep chasing Jinyoung instead? Like does she actually see more of a healthy relationship and genuine future with Jinyoung than Jongwoo??? Like bruuuhhhh.
It's so obvious to tell what types of guys both of them are from a guy's perspective so it's actually mind-boggling how so many women seem to be into Jinyoung lmao
inb4 someone calls me an incel because they don't have anything useful to say
For those who are curious, the new guy has also appeared on a Youtube show called Love & Joy (https://kisskh.at/707861-love-and-joy). I personally didn't have the best impression of him as he seemed to take himself too seriously so hopefully he's changed a bit since then lol
I genuinely couldn't believe it when I recognised him, I had just watched that show a few days before this show so I was like wth what are the chances lol
"Do Know that I can end up hating the decision you made"Bruh, will it hurt you that MUCH to date other girl? Must…
I really don't understand this logic. How is he selfish for wanting to go on a date with the person he likes? Why is he obligated to put up with a date he doesn't want just to appease his ex? Shouldn't she be the mature one and move on? Do you not realise the awkward situation she has put Na Eon in now, since their "date" will just be a formality they have to get over and done with (from Gyu Min's POV)? Look at how Ji Soo reacted when Na Yeon picked her for Hee Doo's date; she didn't know whether it was a good or bad thing because she could feel why Na Yeon chose her.
The whole point of the show is to either go back with your ex, or find someone new. Gyu Min has clearly found someone new who reciprocates his feelings (although she has her own problems obviously). If Hae Eun can't move on, isn't that her fault? Why is Gyu Min being out to be the bad guy when he's literally just doing what people come on this show to do?
Sure I want Hae Eun to be happy, but the reason for her unhappiness is herself, not Gyu Min lmao Yes it's weird that he's jealous now after seeing her get attention from the new guy, but overall he's been maintaining boundaries with her because he knows she's still hung up on him and he doesn't want to give her false hope. Just look at what's happening to Won Bin since developing this one-sided love for Ji Soo. My man is a wreck.
TL;DR Gyu Min is not the evil douchebag you (and many others) are making him out to be.
The amount of hate DH gets is ridiculous IMO as he didn't do anything that bad (at least not intentionally). Yes he needs to choose his words and timing more carefully (and not compare her with other women out loud even if he doesn't mean it in a bad way), but it honestly seems like he cares about JY waaay more than she cares about him. She never seemed excited about the relationship throughout the whole show. I think in ep 14 or 15 it was very telling how he was so excited about the second OG couple date yet she couldn't give a damn and ended up cancelling it unilaterally.
People give JY too much of a pass despite her history of literally abandoning their relationship lol I'm glad they stayed together in the end, they were the only couple who said they'd stay together when that question was asked through text message, and they both care about each other a lot despite their problems with communicating.
HH and JH was obvious, I'm glad the two weeks really solidified their love and commitment to one another. Honestly I have no problem with HH becoming more jealous and outspoken in the last few episodes, it's normal when you've been in a relationship as long as they have. I don't think it's "toxic" or "controlling" but actually kinda wholesome and adorable that she was being so open and honest.
HG and YS should've broken ago waaay before the show. The fact they made it to 500 days is incredible seeing how they can't have a single, normal, productive conversation. They both see themselves as the victim in the relationship, but honestly their personalities and priorities are so opposite that they were never gonna work out. I feel bad for HG at the end because he obviously cares a lot for her, but they both need to find someone they get along better with.
Only other couple I think should've ended differently is TW and HY. Just break up, this relationship isn't healthy for either lol I think a certain amount of jealousy is OK because it shows you care about the other person, but throwing a fit over a text message from a MONTH AGO is kinda ridiculous. Something tells me TW has reason for being this suspicious and untrusting of HY that we're not told, but regardless this relationship probably won't last very long.
Honestly one of the better reality dating shows I've watched, might go back and watch S1 as I haven't seen that one. Hope there's a S3!
This is my long-ass rant after reading through the comments. Let me say that I also binged this show, so I watched…
Glad there's someone with commonsense here lol The amount of hate DH gets is ridiculous IMO as he didn't do anything that bad (at least not intentionally). Yes he needs to choose his words and timing more carefully (and not compare her with other women out loud even if he doesn't mean it in a bad way), but it honestly seems like he cares about JY waaay more than she cares about him. These kinds of shows can be hit or miss for me, especially if they leave many questions unanswered and don't explain…
Why does the bomb still explode even though the plug isn't pulled? And what does the ringtone have to do with it? My guess early on was the there was a phone strapped to the bomb and it explodes when you call it, but then we find out it's a pressure cooker bomb which explodes when the plug is pulled, yet we still hear the ringtone? I feel like this wasn't explained so wondering if anyone knows lol
These kinds of shows can be hit or miss for me, especially if they leave many questions unanswered and don't explain which understanding of time travel/loops they're using for the plot. This one did it really well and definitely deserves the 9/10 rating, but there's still something I don't understand and it's irking me (spoiler comment below)
Question: What purpose did those scenes involving the President's son serve? Both the bonus and regular scenes - I still don't understand why he had screen time showing his "hobbies" lol
Not exactly. He died after being shot during the altercation with the NK boat that was smuggling Prof. Han. Soo Ho wasn't involved in that obviously but the NK agents on the boat were in on the mission too.
