It doesn’t grab your heart cause they tone down the torture part.
So they are great acting romance scene only but can’t act in torture scene is that what you implying? I don’t see why it would distract us from enjoy drama cause it has torture. This drama has everything romance, torture, pain, sadness and happiness all together. The romance in drama is a slow burn at least in the book.

I have watched many drama that show peoples being tortured and it pass the censorship. I don’t expect them to show a lot of blood anything like that. At least show me some tortured scene at least a couple of whip him . Put a little bit blood or bruised on him instead he look clean and handsome

Also in the novel changi yi was very torture the most but the drama didn’t even show him being tortured at all. It show him walking around and having sweet time with ji hunye. That is why I don’t felt sadness from this drama at all at least for part 1.
