I don't think (I don't come here so often to check many posts) people criticize or dislike this show that much. Actually, rating of 8.6 is quite high. Nothing depressing about that. And who cares exactly about people having other opinions. It's healthy to debate and have differences.
Ok, so... I know I'm minority here :-) but I'll pass. I tried the series since the beginning , I liked it at the beginning but was worrying that too much is happening. Watched it until ep 7. Sadly, it didn't grab me. Actors are great, Babe is little "out there" in acting. New actor- ok, I get it, but the chemistry from his side to Billy is somehow lacking. It was better in the beginning. Then it got worse.?
I have no problem what so ever with series/movies where there is some action and romance is as a secondary plot. An excellent example would be The Devil's Judge- even it's not technically romance , nor bl :-) but the chemistry is so out there crazy between Ji Sung and Jinyoung and plays secondary role. In The Sign it looks like it's not first but not second plot either. I think that writers couldn't decide either.
Third issue I have with this series - it's simply all over. Fantasy, crime scene and romance, again- it can work but not in this format. This series doesn't flow right. The scenery in a lot of parts are beautiful, acting is kind of solid(+-) but the flow and sometimes absurdity (in criminal investigation) are no no. I must say I enjoyed Art's story.

Lucid, absolutely agree with you. I loved the chemistry between Billy and Seng, loved their series. I think that Seng made Billy really comfortable and they are/were good friends. I have not problem with actors being switched. I'm not a shipper, really. I like Billy with Babe too. But I think that Billy can have chemistry even with sack of potatoes. 🤣 Nevertheless, people going nuts with switching couples . They live in their BL Lalaland.

Yep, you summarized it very well. Good job :-) I like the series very much, but I think it would be great to watch the series continuously without a week breaks between. Simply, because there's so much in it. We were introduced to too many aspects withing 4 episodes that you want to just continue without stopping to see what's going on next :-)

I was thinking about this and decided that the "recipe blend" is little bit much. :-) Let's start with base of beautiful special unit trainees, add pinch of brewing love and reincarnation ( btw - I'm sucker for reincarnation love stories lol), some monsters and mix everything together -, ok, it's not enough let's sprinkle some serial killers and it's not enough yet- we need psycho doc on top 😉🤣 I think it can work , it can be a great recipe lol, except in 4 episodes it's little bit too much, too fast.?
