I don't think he had any ulterior motive, he was just there roaming as failed lovers do at that age.
No, it's not normal love declaration, but they are not in a normal situation as well. I am not defending Victor, but it is understandable why a boy of his age would do these things. To be honest, Trin's behaviour can also be called out to be leading Victor on. He clearly understood that Victor had a crush on him, yet did not clear things up, specially after that embarrassing cooking Victor did. No one here is to be blame in my opinion, they are just normal human beings, in a difficult situation.

He is just a boy who is marginalised by his own friends for being gay, and after the protest, he was emotionally vulnerable. Trin really handled the situations gracefully. When he saw Tanwa's car, it was in my opinion natural sadness in his eyes, which we all feel even after knowing the inevitability of certain things.
