The story has finally set in and we can see the intensity of the plot slowly making its way up while setting in the mood for the protagonists to begin a new journey. This episode saw quite a few ups and downs, but it also showed the traits that make Jeong-woo the man that he is. And it isn’t just the viewers who are discovering Jeong-woo but also Ha-neul.While Ha-neul is a child who hasn’t been able to grow up because of her dedication towards her studies, Jeong-woo is a person who has had to grow up a lot sooner than anyone else. While one is affected by the environment’s demands of her, the other is affected by the home that was created for him. And eventually, both of them have been left broken for this world.If observed properly, we can see Kdrama around this time subtly focusing on mental health and this is another show that is doing the same. Not just in terms of depression, but also in other mental states that we see as normal until a label is given to them.Altogether, this episode shows the relationship that Ha-neul and Jeong-woo share which can only be understood by them, making it special in its way.

The first week of this rom-com has come to an end and we have to say that this was an information-loaded premiere, which is a given in Kdramas. It’s only been two episodes and I love the focus on mental health that is brought on through this show and the seriousness that Ha-neul’s family shows for the same.Meanwhile, Jeong-jae’s childishness that he reveals in front of Ha-neul is a pleasure to watch as this persona of his remains the same in 2009 and the present, but only in front of her. And, certainly, he can only be himself in front of her as the demands of his family are no less than those of the world.The two protagonists are characters who have been roughed up by the world which turned them into diamonds, however, the pressure around them hasn’t come to an end which is why they are reaching their breaking points. The bonus is the way Park Hyung-sik and Park Shin-hye portray these characters which has certainly led viewers to feel the intense emotions that they are going through in every scene.Finally, it looks like depression isn’t the only mental health condition that is being shown here and it seems that there is another character with a disorder that could be shown later. First episodes are always exposition-heavy…

First episodes are always exposition-heavy and it’s the same for Doctor Slump. However, I am getting the whiff of a small crime-thriller along with a mental health-focused series in the upcoming episodes of this rom-com. When it comes to this episode, though, it was quite entertaining and, even though we hardly know anything about either of these characters, I found myself feeling a bit heartbroken for them in their present lives. The first episode was a nice mix of light-hearted and extremely serious moments. lot of people will relate to Ha-neul’s struggles since they are oh-so-common among high-achievers. Meanwhile, I feel like Jeong-woo’s trial scene was a bit kooky, especially with the medicine vial being found in the trash in the clinic. I mean, sure that’s one way to frame someone, but I think we could’ve gone a little more complicated route and given something more interesting to pick apart. From where we stand right in the first episode, he’s clearly being framed. It’s also quite silly that his childhood friends would start throwing punches the moment they hear anything against Jeong-woo. However, Yoon Park is a treasure and I hope to see more of his character’s love-hate relationship with Jeong-woo.
