I'll only believe we'll get a special episode or second season when I see it... there is already rumors that it's not going to happen now... and honestly I think I'm okay with that. I sat through every week doing my best to disconnect this from the source material. I "think" I would have enjoyed this more if the editing wasn't horrid and the multiple weeks without subtitles. the things is the whole point of addicted was how addicted the MCs were for each other and in an extremely toxic way. this version softened all of that. I guess in a way, if you can compartmentalize and remove all of addicted from this you might enjoy it. at its core this was a sweet love story between two MCs who were given shitty hands at life. I really don't think this is the fault of the actors, I think they played their part accordingly to how the director wanted it. which leads me to say, I think this fell flat for me because of the directors take on this adaptation. the cut/uncut really made no sense. they cut things out that were crucial for the plot and were even referred to later on. this series had huge shoes to fill. not just from the original addicted and stay with me but from the novel lovers, and no matter how it's adapted it won't make everyone happy. however, as far as adaptations go this one really missed the mark. addicted NEEDS those addicted elements. it needs the two MCs who would not only watch the world burn for the other they would gladly light the match and laugh. we don't get that here. and I don't think we ever will. oh addicted, no one can ever live up to how truly unhinged you are and I hope unless we can get a proper casting/ company to produce it they stop trying. you deserve better and so do the fans of the books. but like I said if you can take away all the addicted elements and just see it as a high school BL it's not the worst thing in the world.
