although I’m enjoying it I am really hoping for some unhinged funny moments. I’m not just talking about the Japanese version. the manga also had the MC in this case Atom a little more air headed and unhinged and I think fourth could play that so well, if they would let him. so I’m hopeful we will get that in later episodes, but I am a tad sad that verging seems more subdued, even just comparing it to the manga alone and not the Japanese version
some of these comments are wild. okay i absolutely loved the books, albeit extremely toxic. and i also loved the two live action version we’ve gotten so far. what’s mind blowing to me is the people pressed that others have voiced their concerns about the real life age gap between the actors. like take a step back… you’re upset because someone finds a 16 and a 28 year old playing NC scenes as bothersome? yes, Thailand’s age of consent is 15 and Macs parents were okay with it… but does that actually make it acceptable? like really think about it. sure this is all fake. this isn’t real. good. I’m glad. this is a made up story and the books are really toxic (oh but how I loved them).
let’s be real, they could have cast two people over the age of 18 who might have a little more life experience and understand more what’s being asked of them or idk two 16 year olds so there isn’t this huge power imbalance because one of the main actors is almost 30. again, we all love a good age gap, but when one of the parties is 16 there is gonna be some backlash ick to it. that’s inevitable.
cool thing about life is, we all get to choose if we are willing to put the age gap aside and watch it or not. that’s our choice. we have free will. for some this will be a hard no. others might try it and see how they feel. and there will be some who don’t see it as a problem and will watch no matter what. all are valid for the individual.
but what honestly blows my mind are the people here getting mad. People came to the series page-in the comments section, where you are supposed to put your thoughts-and are voicing how they feel and somehow they are labeled, pearl clutchers, or overreacting, etc. just because YOU are okay with this type of age gap doesn’t mean when others aren’t, their opinion is less valid. just like your opinion that you see nothing wrong with it is also valid since it’s your opinion. but coming here and telling people that they are wrong when they voice their valid concerns is wild.
so I’m not trying to compare and I don’t know yet since I haven’t started episode one but I want that unhinged chaotic over the top dramatic energy we got from the Japanese version. so fingers crossed.
as someone who has read it you should read the whole thing. they have left out parts, and you can skim to where episode 7 is. but I’d def recommend reading from the beginning or at least skimming. ther version I read was liek 121 chapters. it’s been a while but I’d say look around chapter 50 maybe for where episode 7 is
I’ve honestly not been this invested in a series since KP. and this is probably the only series I don’t find myself FF through parts. I’ve read the book so I know what’s gonna happen and I’m still so glued to the screen.
so I’m rewatching this after a few months and honestly that girl still pisses me off. like come on, read the damn room. she got under my skin from episode one. other than her i honestly liked this better the second time around.
