my interpretation of why Deukchan aka the most complex character did what he did (SPOILERS)
Deukchan "holding back" frm turning himself in could be with how things got out of control after EomJi got killed (could be unintentional or not we don't know for now) as he probably approached EomJi due to how much she was bothering Doha at that time. [Frm his character so far, it doesn't seemed like he'll kill just bcs of that but likely he'll confront her n that's when things got messy]
However, afterwards seeing the man he liked suffering greatly frm his actions/impact of the death probably made him hard to confess his crime. A part of him knows their friendship is all over if he does. He just wants to be by his side n knowing Doha personality, Deukchan knew he would be broken frm the truth from the death of the girl he love and adding to that knowing his trusted friend did it?
Coincidentally to Deukchan's favour (or not if we factor the mom in) the case remained unsolved. Deukchan chose to keep quiet to lessen the shock in the expense of Seungju being labeled as the killer. A decision once fueled by his selfish one-sided love which he came probably came to regret quite early on but sadly did not (in his terms) find the right timing. He treasured his decade long friendship over his unrequited love (bcs how would he explain his motive of killing your bestfriend's gf bcs he bothered him alot?) he knew wanted to keep that love hidden for the rest of his life and couldn’t bear to break their bond that was as precious to him.
That escalating mess at the end? (well like most ep 14 of kdramas) tbvh wouldn't have likely happened if Doha didn't appear to hear his confession of love/crime. Remember that this man liked him to the extent of burying a murder (intentional or not) so he was more afraid of confronting doha face-to-face than than his crime itself. To Deukchan, that would crush his world more than anything else, having to see Doha's broken face himself. Just look at how he had an immediate breakdown when Doha appeared, he probably allowed his already unstable mental state (frm 5yrs of guilt on his back) to take charge n activate his fight or flight response eventho he had a great plan to settle everything systemically. Giving his wife & kid his properties, leaving Doha w their precious company and releasing his younger brother that was buying time to do all this. You could say call this his "suicide" plan but not literally bcs he did initially plan to turn i after all that [until it actually did -_-]
Adding on, Deukchan saw how well/recovered SeungJu is currently living his life w Solhee. It must also be one of the reasons he went ahead with this quick plan of his. I believe he also got pressured frm of that leaked police bribing case that was gonna make Seungju the prime suspect all over again.
Deukchan knew that this time he finally needed to let everything go or he'll won't get the chance/timing again.
Side note; I gotta give it to him tho for being able to meticulously strategise this plan (must be his ceo management skills/experience) that almost succeeded literally to the last second. [Imagine if Solhee didn't find out in time, he'll probably just walk to the police station himself and Doha would've found out thru Kangmin or the news and there'll maybe some emotional drama, happy scenes then ends. But it wouldn't be a kdrama without action at the end of the 3rd last ep]
idek if it appeared in prev eps but the moment i realised in that scene of TORU & REN in ep 5 having the same style as "Gokushufudo / A way of househusband" and finding out i was right bcs one of them was indeed the director for this. no wonder this comedy was so familiar & to my taste . The fact that both directors were in also Ossan's Love too! explains the cast

you know how korean theaters are showing this in 4Dx w those motion chairs. n since you've watched it can u imagine the experience during "those scenes" I'll probably be grabbing the seats
probably the best movie I've seen this year. last time i had such confidence to recommend a movie to everyone was Train To Busan (before it blew up) & watching it in theaters is so so much better with all the sounds just AMAZING. this movie made me want everyone ard me to watch it too. Han Jae Rim Director caught my attention (as someone who doesn't know much abt filming) i had a moment where i was like damn i love the way the director filmed this, not once but countless of times. the casts? no need to say more every single one of them nailed it, can't go wrong. even during pre-climax when I've yet to know how it was gonna end, i alr convinced myself that no doubt this is a hella great movie. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

yess but @Vaish please watch the director' cut/movie ver of Life : Senjou no Bokura bcs there's an added scene at the end and it really brought it up tenfold. Very beautiful story
This is so beautifully written. The writer weaved through the complexity of a love relationship between 2 people by connecting the past events of the individual's life. Intricately portraying how those experiences shaped the way they act in a relationship. I love how the writer manages to showcase each character's emotions by using the little things that's happening around them.
Jiwoo is such a needed and perfect character. I'm actually (despite people questioning him) so proud of him because he is starting to express himself which is the start to improving his communication. He's letting them know what he felt back when he with them. He's learning and trying which I bet isn't easy for him at all. But all of this kinda messes his mind & the way he's been living his life. The whole reason why they're in this whole mess.
Their opposite personalities challenges both their personal ways of perceiving how a relationship should be. JiWoo is cracking out of his shell after being with SeoJoon. Sure their own past experiences may lead them to their current decisions but among the bad of it, there's a good out of it. Which is why imho think the old JiWoo couldn't been able to be honest with his ex about his feelings in the past if not for his conflict with SeoJoon. He is growing from this breakup. Actually both are in some ways.
This is the beauty of this drama. Looking forward to the conclusion of this drama because no matter the outcome, this drama teaches what relationships is about (be it lovers/friends/family/basically everyone around us) it makes people grow to be the person that they are today. This one just primarily focuses on lovers.
/there's stuffs to say for SeoJoon too but I'm just using JiWoo as an example because i relate to his personality more closer and can explain better.
i watched till ep 16 w the indonesian subs n istg if they don't show sobue once imma flip. but if they really not planning to can we at least get a in person interaction btwn izumi & sobue idm if they don't show his face 😩😩

yess eventho it was vague n they didnt elaborate much on their r/s afterwards but i was very much satisfied w the exchange of smiles n the way they put it across. not too little yet not too much.
tbh i randomly started watching as it was airing halfway thru and binged watched it n got somehow invested. really enjoyed it up to the end! good show that has enough plots throughout 👏 👍
