I mean the dramas are probably nothing alike but reading the title made me think of Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok…
Ji Soo made a guest appearance in Weightlifting Kim Bok Joo for Nam Joo Hyuk so, what if Nam Joo Hyuk cameos in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon for Ji Soo?! <3
Oh, the similarity in the titles.
Weightlifting <name - Kim Bok Joo>
Strong Woman <name - Do Bong Soon>
I'm really excited with this. I think I will not miss Hwarang that much since I will see Park Hyung Sik again…
@Jemerald523 Hwarang was a pre produced drama hence it was wrapped up long time back. And in the meanwhile, HyunShik signed up for this and I'm SO glad he did because I can't wait to see him on screen again <3
I was expecting the story to pick up and progress a bit at least after Episode 15 onwards (because its the last…
SLS = Second Lead Syndrome.
Yeah, the Ban Ryu and Soo Ho moment was amazing!
Yes, they have indeed clarified who he is (his constant fainting still hasn't been addressed yet but I think it eventually won't be as only 2 episodes are left and many things to be filled in).
Sam Maek Jong's walk inside the courthouse and finally declaring that he's King Jinheung, the real King of Silla - is a scene which was long awaited! Such thrills <3
I was loving this drama, but they are messing too much with the real history... It was such an amazing era, but…
@DiosaUnica96 and @Lorell I agree! I understand that saeguk's are ficitonal but the historical figures remain the same (mostly if the story is based on a real reign or especially if it was an era as auspicious as King Jinheung's reign!) and its just the build up of the story that changes!
I did predict that Seo Joon's character would definitely be made into someone important enough to challenge the King's seat, but didn't think that they would show him being persuaded so much to become the King because at the end of the day, Sam Maek Jong was King Jinheung! I'd be disappointed if they make Sun Woo the King and make him the 'real-King-Jinheung' (which won't actually be possible because name's change when a new King is crowned)! I would also not like if in the last episodes they show, Sun Woo coming out stronger (as we still have Ban Ryu's grandfather issue left) giving up the throne for Ji Dwi to 'keep' (that doesn't make sense because it was Ji Dwi's to begin with!) in order to live a happily-ever-after with Ah Ro! Hyungshik's done an amazing acting and the SLS is still very strong, but not in a way that I ship him with Ah Ro! I just want Sam Maek Jong to rise as the rightful King in a respectable manner!
Some people may call this opinion as biased but its not like that, I love both the actors and find them very talented but the concentration on making Seo Joon's character the King, is irritating me!
P.S - I'm curious, especially in the case of Master We Hwa as his role seems confusing (him being in prison in the initial episodes of the drama). And more suspicious in the last episode because even he seemed a bit interested in making Sun Woo the next King!
I'm watching this drama just for Hyungsik great acting and Ban Ryu, Soo Ho, Soo Yeon interaction!!! I like…
@blacklatina Okay, I agree with the fact that brave and hard working people can rise above everyone else because they are willing to do so! But in this case, when it comes to years long practice of skills such as sword fighting and reading - Sun Woo has been shown to have grasped it all in one go! But even that is justified because thats how dramas are - and I am so immune to characters being displayed like this that it doesn't make any difference anymore (its something very predictable).
He's shown brave AND mighty! And just because he's better, he is the only one who doesn't wear the headband - bending all the rules to show that he is the one that stands out! (basically, screaming that he's the main lead, although we know that already).
I'm really afraid this takes some stupid turn like Sun Woo being long-lost crown prince or something.. it…
@Gardenia Well, for now the Princess likes Sun Woo too right? So even if Sun Woo becomes the king, the Princess will marry him to keep the bloodline rich or whatever!
Or if Sun Woo becomes the King, then Ah Ro becomes the Queen? lol
Anyway, I don't like both the possibilities - Sun Woo becoming the King or giving up his opportunity to become King to Ji Dwi (which is absurd because he's the actual king) just to live a peaceful life with Ah Ro. Both these situations would show Sun Woo being all mighty and Ji Dwi being a scared cat! *rolls eyes*
I'm confused to be honest why doesn't anyone like this drama? Don't know about you but I think…
For me, as I have always said, I like the idea of the story but the way the STORY has been executed (I feel there have been less situations thrown in to balance a fictional saeguk political plot line throughout 20 episodes) is not catching my interest. Other than that, more than the romance, the idea of King Jinheung being fictionalised like this is fantastic, I think!
But yes I skip forward Ah Ro's scenes (and the main couple's scene because their romance is just not jelling with me) but I don't criticise Go Ara's acting competency at all as I have seen her in other dramas as well. Same goes for all the other actors - they have been trying their best here and it shows in the scenes that don't include Ah Ro crying her eyes out or getting into trouble! Also, throwing her into trouble everytime so far has been made into a "staple trigger" for progressing other character's stories which makes it seem repetitive!
And yes, I don't understand why PSJ is being called "ugly" all of a sudden lol Stop being jealous lol (to people who think he's ugly)
I'm really afraid this takes some stupid turn like Sun Woo being long-lost crown prince or something.. it…
Omg @lattebean_ This is what I'm most afraid of happening! The Queen's illness and Sun Woo's fainting, may probably have a weird connection such as that!
And if yes, if Sun Woo is someone who can really threaten Sam Maek Jong's seat - then I really would be disappointed because it robs the SL off everything (he might even lose Sun Woo as his friend!). In simple words, I wouldn't like it.
I was expecting the story to pick up and progress a bit at least after Episode 15 onwards (because its the last segment of the drama with only 4 episodes to go) but apparently, Ji Dwi is still enduring it all and trying to convince Ah Ro (like c'mon, seriously?), Sun Woo just doesn't understand Ji Dwi's side of the story and Ah Ro still is clueless as to what is happening, even until Episode 16.
All that majorly happened in the past two episodes can be summed up as:
1) For now, I believe the Princess has more than what meets the eye as she seemed softly considerate after finally recognising her brother (although the actress has acted this character as emotionless!)
2) Even after all what happened, Ji Dwi might FINALLY be convinced enough to rise to his rightful position!
3) Didn't sound justified when Ji Dwi courageously admitted that he was weak to Master Wi (in the hall scene) when he couldn't speak up because its not true - he WAS going to speak up but Sun Woo took the chance.
4) Sun Woo has to go through all of this just because of Ah Ro (and his 'love' for her - which was caught not only by Prince Chang of Baekje but also the Queen, who will use this weakness against him obviously duh!).
5) Oh, and my previous analysis of Sun Woo possibly being the son of Master Hwi Kyung? There could be another possibility because the Queen's illness and Sun Woo's 'fainting' illness MAY or may not have a connection - but my statement of Sun Woo being an important character who poses a potential threat to King Jinheung, henceforth hasn't changed.
6) The scenes of dialogue exchange between the music teacher who raised Sun Woo/Moo Myung and Master Ahn Ji (at the epidemic site) was very ambiguous (maybe it wasn't subbed well?).
7) I skipped all the parts of the 'main' couple.
P.S - the first scene of Episode 16 where Ji Dwi is shooting arrows out of frustration (very relatable scene - except I don't shoot arrows when I'm frustrated!) and the scene where he wants to give it all up and live as Ah Ro's man (seriously, her?!), are the scenes that triggered tears in me! Also, in Episode 15 when Ban Ryu holds an injured Su Hoo, bromance shined!
SLS still going strong, as always!
(I have nothing against the actors - they're all very talented! My comments are solely based on the story write up so far and character build up).
Do you guys remember in Episode 1, how Master Wi Hwa Rang was in the prison, when the Queen came with an offer for him to train a group of young boys who would protect the King?
I want to know the background story as to how and why he was in the prison!
I'm watching this drama just for Hyungsik great acting and Ban Ryu, Soo Ho, Soo Yeon interaction!!! I like…
Sun Woo can't sword fight better than Ji Dwi, yet. Ji Dwi started learning since he became the heir to the throne and must've been trained by the best teachers (especially when her mother wanted to conceal his identity and make him live outside the palace, so he needs some skill to protect himself).
As for Sun Woo, I think all his decisions revolve around 'saving Ah Ro' and 'killing the king'. He can ride the horse, show bravery, doesn't back down easily and maybe the smartest. Our King is smart too but its just that, Ji Dwi's character has been shown as lacking confidence (which Sun Woo is full of) because the stakes are just too high for him!! TT (he needs to get Hwarang into his command to challenge his mother and then the ministers - which sounds hard considering the only friend he made in the Hwarang House wants to kill him for something he didn't order or do!!)
Basically, everything is going in favour of Sun Woo and Master Ahn and Master Hwi Kyung right now. Even Su Hoo thinks Sun Woo is the king, so he wants to be loyal to the Queen and that is by protecting the king (aka their misunderstanding of Sun Woo being the king)! And I'm here like, wait who sides with our Ji Dwi - the REAL king, people!!! (hope Master Wi does!)
And now, for no reason, Ji Dwi will have to deal with Sun Woo being a potential candidate for becoming the King! I hope, they don't do this because King Jinheung was one of the most known kings of Silla and it could be a disrespect to their heritage!
Oh, the similarity in the titles.
Weightlifting <name - Kim Bok Joo>
Strong Woman <name - Do Bong Soon>
#friendshipgoals
Su Hoo just disappeared after the Queen's passing away. As for Ah Ro getting to know that it was the Queen's Commander who killed her real brother?
Yeah, the Ban Ryu and Soo Ho moment was amazing!

"Heavily focused on making him her fake brother first and then her lover"
And I'm here waiting all this time, hoping that Ji Dwi's story (and his confidence to step up) is shown asap!
But yes I skip forward Ah Ro's scenes (and the main couple's scene because their romance is just not jelling with me) but I don't criticise Go Ara's acting competency at all as I have seen her in other dramas as well.
