I dont think there is a novel. In the first episode there are only the babies and Eunseom as a kid. There is a time jump after this. But just fyi he is not a rough character in the beggining. He was a pure soul. He transformed because of the cruelty and suffering .

Maybe you should watch the first episode. You will understand better the Neanthals, the Saram and Igutus ( and there is almost no SJK).

As i said before its your emotions or your expectations that no one could say a thing. I didnt feel this way at all. I liked very much, the battle was insane for me. Cinematography as well. I really like SJK performance and the meeting of the twins. I found the entire second episode very entertaining. If i have a critic is about SSK perfomrnace in just some scenes but i will wait for more episodes.
And also i watched on hitv with that terrible quality, so i will rewatch the episodes.
Are we going to keep saying the same thing throught all the season? 🤔
Years ago SJK left the project. YEARS. He is with his baby now. If you were a fan you know that. You also know that LJG accepted to continue the saga. He is a wonderful actor . One of the best in SK. He might not have accepted that and then we will not get a continuation.

More than 8 years have passed in Arthdal. All the characters are supposed to be more mature or bitter. Eunseom is not the same that left Yark. He was not the same even in the end of the third part. Saya is not the same that was closed in the room. He wants more.

A new imposing style for a queen. Same with the new outfit for the King. You can see photos in details of both of them above. All the new black armors for the elite army and calvary. All the wooden armor and masks for the Ago union. Also those battles must have cost a little fortune. One can totally see that the stylist team work hard.
SJK and KJW refused to come back due to various reasons. Some other actors have other schedules as well. Im grateful that the producers get Lee Joon Gi to continue Arthdal. There is no one better than him to be Eunseom/Saya now.
