Update: New rewards have been added to our Kickstarter!
1) Choose a TV series - super deal If you contribute at least 79-99€ (or the equivalent in your currency), you can choose any title from the list of dramas available for subbing on YouTube and we will subtitle it. Limited to 3 backers only, so be quick!
2) Get 1 vote Contribute at least 11€ and vote for a title from the list of availabe dramas. Once a drama receives 50 votes in total, we will subtitle it. Everyone who pledged for this reward will be contacted and be able to vote once we reach our funding goal. I will then publish which dramas received votes and how many. If a drama won't have reached 50 votes yet, you will be able to continue pledging for more votes.
3) Get 3 votes Same as above. If you contribute at least 22€, you can vote for 3 dramas or cast 3 votes on one drama.
Bonus: Every time we reach a new milestone (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, 125%... of our funding goal), a new super deal (limited to 1 backer) will be offered, so make sure to check our Kickstarter page from time to time!
Hi Alice, once the dramas are subtitled, ¿where can we watch them?
I 'm not quite sure what you mean, could you please precise?
In case you just wanted to ask about the legal status of the subtitles, we don't have any rights to the subtitles we create. The rights stay with the license holders of the dramas aka the companies behind the YouTube channels who upload them.
Dear everyone, if you like our project and also wish to see more Cdramas with subtitles, please support us. If you only wait for others to support us, nothing will happen. Even 1€ can already make a difference if everyone contributes!
In case none of our current subbing projects interest you, please bear in mind that as long as we have enough funds to continue subbing dramas in the long run, there is a huge chance that we will in the future also subtitle a drama that you will want to watch. There will definitely be at least one interesting drama for you among the over 200 unsubbed dramas available on YouTube.
Last but not least, a big thank you to everyone who already contributed! You are true heroes! :)
@Cdramabase: I have a few suggestions that might make it easier to raise money. You say "The amount we have set…
Hi mjf314, Alice from CdramaBase here, thank you for the suggestions!
You can find the list of our ongoing projects on our website. The link is in the article above. I highly doubt that people who find the project directly on Kickstarter will happen to be Cdrama fans and know those titles, so I haven't listed them on our Kickstarter page.
As to why I have set one big goal: We have been working with smaller donations that people mostly make for a specific drama so far. We have practically been working from "donation to donation", but we wish to work more effectively. If I want to recruit more translators so that we can subtitle faster, I need a larger sum so that our funds won't already be used up after a few weeks and I won't be able to give our subbers any work anymore. The set funding goal is actually still very low for those plans, but since this is my first time with Kickstarter and I had no idea how well it will work, I didn't want to set the goal too high.
As to CN Drama, we are still working with them. Currently we are subtitling "All Is Well" . Obviously, they will only fund their own dramas. I have reached out to other companies that upload Chinese dramas on YouTube as well, but if they reply at all, they mostly either expect us to subtitle for free or for a fee that is so low that we can't accept it. To put it in a nutshell, most Chinese companies don't show any real interest in making their dramas available to the international fan community.
